Broadcast Network Protocol
When I worked for an ABC-TV Network affiliate I learned that broadcast networks traditionally leave a silent spot at 5-seconds before the hour for local I.D.
Network feeds start evenly on the hour or half-hour.
Another tip...
Test your stream links in the playlist prior to putting them in the Event Window to make sure they work.

No, it's AAC, but I did install the codec that was recommended here to support AAC. live2.darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com:10133/streamThe main thing I see is the event should be set to High Priority. Another thing is, what kind of stream is that? Is it MP3?

Carl that was a good suggestion and I discovered that the stream does not run from the playlist either. I then re-installed the codec, re-started Zara, and it still does not play. Jim I think you missed Mighty's comment, evidently they also have an MP3 stream, try that one instead:

Thanks! I did miss that and in fact don't see it in the thread except where you quoted it below. I have updated the links and will see if it plays now. Jim I think you missed Mighty's comment, evidently they also have an MP3 stream, try that one instead:

FYI the live1 mp3 stream does work. I wish Dark Matter had provided the info that there were two other streams to choose from. Jim I think you missed Mighty's comment, evidently they also have an MP3 stream, try that one instead:

At one time they had the option clearly provided, but when I looked the other day I could no longer find any mention to it, that's why I was glad to see Mighty posting the MP3 stream information earlier.

I think I may still have some work to do. When I posted my last message the stream was playing for my event. About 15 minutes later I checked and it had kicked back to the playlist. Coming At It From All Directions
So far as I've experienced linking to streams to be re-streamed on your own radio service is, as of the present time, not a perfect science.
In April I linked to WWOZ in New Orleans for the annual Jazz Heritage Festival, and the first few days were fraught with outages which turned out to be system wide, not just me.
The Festival is streamed to a National hookup of stations and apparently everyone suffered the same fate.
Eventually their engineers got it smoothed out and things were mostly reliable after that.
When streams drop from within a playlist or automation program that program switches to something else.
I have found that having it switch to a re-connection to the same stream that dropped often restores the connection.

Thanks Carl. I'm not sure how to make it switch back to events but I will keep plugging away. I just looked at their pop up html player source which concurs with what you said, but I'm curious what the difference between the live1 and the live3 stream is? It might be quality, but I doubt it.. I wonder if maybe it's geographic? or is it just a secondary load? Not sure how the online player determines which source to play. live1.darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com:8303 is mp3 live3.darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com:7248 is mp3 live2.darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com:10133 is aac
I wish I had Zara right here with me to find what the problem is.
EDIT: This is kinda interesting, though not much help to the task at hand. At this CCrane page it gives you instructions on how to tune into the Dark Matter Network on their CC Wifi radios..

Zara does not handle buffering very well, so if your internet connection hiccups or drops out Zara will stall for a set ammount of time (usually 30 seconds if silence detection is enabled) and kick back to the playlist. Zara will not and cannot reconnect to a lost stream. To get around this I schedule an optional reconnect every 10-15 minutes in the event builder, if the stream drops for whatever reason with my setup Zara will resume the playlist until the next reconnect event is reached.
Edit: Ultimately I got fed up with my less than stellar internet connection and grabbed a couple of satellite dishes to pull live programming with. 1 Ku band dish for LRN and 1 C-Band dish for WW1/GCN.

Pound Fist On Desk Nobody Looks Up
Ya, that's right, another Zara problem!
It's the Satellite Input this time.
The Satellite Input is designed to connect to the Line Input or possibly the Stereo Mix but I have never been able to get it to work.
It is the ONLY way to broadcast LIVE using Zara, unless perhaps the "Stream Input" were used to go live, which could be done I guess.
But why, why oh why, in the name of God, won't my Satellite Input just work, for once?
Why does there always have to be yet another problem with Zara?
When am I going to learn to be calm when these highly frustrating episodes arise to sap whatever diminishing value there is to living under climate change?
