Thanks. I think I am going to move in that direction. There's no reason why it couldn't. You can schedule all your shows as you like, but it might be a good idea to still maintain a playlist of short content audio like psa's or what not for filler of gaps that might arise due to different length programs. When the scheduler isn't active then the playlist will automatically kick in and prevent dead air from occurring, then the next scheduled event will take over from there.

Well it looks like the events I created are not playing, have to figure that out. Thanks. I think I am going to move in that direction. There's no reason why it couldn't. My playlist consists of one item; random plays from the main music folder which contains hundreds of subfolders each with many individual files.
The mode is set to repeat so the random plays continue until a scheduled event occurs.
Events typically may contain individual files, rotation lists, auto time/temperature announcements in a sequence file.
When the sequence ends it's back to the repeating playlist.
Sometimes the event is just a break, sometimes a syndicated program either as a streaming audio or mp3.

The Zara Event builder handles all my programming, station IDs, and song selections. It is very much doable and very easy to do and will allow your station to run unattended almost forever.
Carl brings up a good point that I have a decent answer for...
I have a few programs that change filenames weekly, for those programs I simply rename them to something simple. For example, Scott Shannon's America's Greatest Hits filename looks something like 17266REW5-H01S01.mp3 and changes each week to another new name, so next week would be something like 17267REW5-H01S01.mp3. For my stations (this includes the full-power) I rename the file to something static and easy such as SCOTT 1.mp3, that way as far as Zara is concerned the file never changed.
IMPORTANT TIP: The Playlist MUST and I mean MUST have something, anything, in it otherwise Zara will not playback the scheduled events.

I think I have it now. My station IDs are playing at the top of the hour. Hopefully MITD will kick in at midnight and the Big Picture Science Show will now kick in at 10 AM tomorrow. Well it looks like the events I created are not playing, have to figure that out. Thanks. I think I am going to move in that direction.

No not yet. I'd like to get another Davis Vantage Pro 2 before I did that... Are you scheduling time and temperature announcements too Jim?

Just to mention; the Acurite is a lot cheaper I installed one for a friend last year and like it so much I decided I wanted one myself.. kind of forgot about it, you just reminded me. Zara only announces Temperature, Humidity and time.. I'm not sure if there's a method to automatically announce other things like wind direction/speed, and whatever else,.. I've never incorporated a personal weather station into Zara, but know it can be done with some freely available scripts.. I've always used an older free version of WeatherWatcher which feeds the info to Zara and announces it at scheduled intervals.
I'll probably get a weather station when I get my "studio" put back together.. that was supposed to be months ago.. things don't always time out in the way expected. But I look forward to getting an on-location personal weather station for Zara instead of it obtaining the weather conditions from 20 miles away as it had been.

Unfortunately the only event working seems to be my station IDs, which is a static file. Big Picture Science show is also static files and they are not playing. A couple other shows are Internet streams, and they are not playing. I went through the manual and also the screenshot recently posted and I thought it was setup correctly, but I must be missing something. I think I have it now. My station IDs are playing at the top of the hour. Hopefully MITD will kick in at midnight and the Big Picture Science Show will now kick in at 10 AM tomorrow. Well it looks like the events I created are not playing, have to figure that out.

Does anyone see what is wrong with this event?

The main thing I see is the event should be set to High Priority. Another thing is, what kind of stream is that? Is it MP3?

Not really, unless there's some other event you have set up which might be conflicting with it - you could change it to "high priority" to conteract that (if that's the case). But again, as previously mentioned, the Dark Radio Network is a AAC stream - Zara can't play AAC because Windows Media Player (which Zara utilizes) can't play it.. So you need to install a plugin for WMP that can play it, in a previous post in this thread I supplied a link to the Organ plugin which should solve this problem - Did you install that?

Additionally I see an event with __:00:00 as the set time, this tells me that event fires off every hour. This is most likely your legal ID, since your legal ID is set to High Priority (as evidenced by the event log to the left) Zara is booting the stream in favor of playing the legal instead.
To fix this set the stream to 00:00:01 and High Priority, never have two events scheduled for the same time in Zara.

Glad you mentioned that.. I thought they used to have an MP3 stream option but then I couldn't find it when I looked on their website again yesterday, which is why I suggested the plugin.
