DHR: Doug Sorry, I was not clear. What I should have said was that 2 miles away, at 100 mW signal would not penetrate a building.
You're right. Not even at 1 mile. At 200mW, it does penetrate buildings downtown. On all three floors. It gets into a building across the river on the third floor. But that's all within half a mile. Still...quite impressive.

If you live in an apartment complex with lots of apartments nearby and a lot of the people listen to you why worry about extra power if you got all the listeners right there beside you? Sounds like a pretty good plan to me.
As for the signstek CZE-T200 transmitter I thought that the lowest power was not even 1m. actually the power level is .01 mW. That equals about 10 nanowatts. The second power setting as you go from lowest to highest is 10 milliwatts. The 3rd setting is 100 milliwatts and finally the fourth setting which is the highest it will go is 200 milliwatts.
In all fairness to the part 15 rules section 239 it has been estimated that it only takes about 11 nanowatts to produce a legal signal with the proper field strength that will not go over the rules.
That being said Doug you've got a real nice neighborhood radio station and with the proper formatting it could really be nice for your neighborhood. Maybe even get the neighbors involved whereas they too can be a part of it.

That is enough to cover me, and my three neighbors in this building. At that level, they don't get it next door or across the street. I'm good with that. It's legal. Now, I can concentrate on my AM transmitter(s). I also need to look at a new limiter/compressor. The Compellor is tempting. And Station 8 (Jeff) has me looking at ten foot copper pipe.

DHR Comments: Sorry guys. "Your math is incorrect. 0.01 mW is 10,000 nanowatts. So that means you are not street legal."

Honestly if your not getting to the building next door I doubt there will be an issue. If they can't hear you, they won't come after you. This is just being too paranoid. I don't think Doug has anything to worry about at that level of a signal.
I know I've said it too many times that so-called legal Christmas light shows transmit way further than that for Years and never a gripe from the funny farms. But to each his or her own. If your so worried stay off FM and go AM with a Talking House or Spitfire and if your even that worried A Chris Cuff. That will be a true Fly caster.

Kind of odd seeing you say that considering you shut off during skip, which I consider being too paranoid.

What concerns me is the amount technically inaccurate information that gets thrown around on this and other sites.

Not Meant Personally
This quote is not aimed at anyone in particular, but seems like it might fit a lot of situations on the part 15 sites;
It is much easier to be critical than to be correct.
-- Benjamin Disraeli

Regarding the simple quotation of Benjamin Disraeli, Druid Hills became befuddled: "I don't get it?"
I was afraid this would happen. I've been seeing the signs coming on for quite some time. Druid Hills is in the first stages of "Cognitive Drift", a condition that stands between very ordinary experience, and the correct interpretation of that experience.
The only thing we can do is act normal.

If we get 87.1-87.7 no need to worry as much about ducting (skip or temperature inversions).

Saving Faith, or Face, as the case may beDHR over-reaction: " ...The whole DHR Fights Back Rant..." The studied Carl Blare, never looking up from gazing at the ground, speaks: I hadn't intended it to become religious, but in-so-far as it has, even secularists endorse something like X-day and have in fact developed a working Pleasure Saucer based on late night phone calls with Elon Musk.

I don't have a clue about what you are talking about and for that I am grateful.
