we are now just Classic Hits 1630 AM Denver,
the FM has been decommissioned and dropped entirely besides there being no open FM frequencies in my part of denver anymore FM is just not worth the effort. my carrier current is doing so well along with my auxiliary remote part 15.219 site that i just don't need to fool with FM and all the regulatory problems that come along with it.
i have removed all references of FM from my websites and social media pages.
i just eventually need my TOH ID's and such overhauled to drop the references to FM.
maybe i can just edit out the references to FM using Audacity from the ID's and not need them completely redone.

Your FM Has a History
Part15Engineer reports: "I have removed all references of FM from my websites and social media pages."
Your reasons for closing your FM service are very practical business reasons, but the FM will always live on as part of the History of your radio station.

there is no way to know that you are legal on FM (unless you own or have access to a $15k FM FIM) as Tim In Bovey has proved with his testing that even certified Transmitters are way out of spec.

Sure there is... Pick up any FM radio walk 250 feet from your transmitter, if you can't tune your station in then your legal.

Quoting Chief Engineer of the FCC John Reed: "..Yes, I know that a Public Notice was released saying that unlicensed AM and FM transmitters have 200 feet of range. On the practical side, however, you're lucky to even get 30 feet in the FM band. I did see one experiment achieve 400 feet of range when operated in a remote area with a low background noise level and no other FM stations any where near the selected frequency, using a very sensitive FM receiver with a good antenna, and transmitting in a mono mode with 75 kHz of deviation applied to the modulation..." www.radiodiscussions.com/showthread.php?540838-FCC-s-John-Reed-Co...

The Safe and Only Way
End80 is about right: "Sure there is... Pick up any FM radio walk 250 feet from your transmitter, if you can't tune your station in then you're legal."
That is something anyone can do and there is probably no other way to physically test the legality of a part 15 FM transmitter.
Warning: Anyone who reminds us that we could pay a lab to have it checked for "certification" or buy our own FIM to verify compliance... you have had your say and if you repeat it one more time a group of anonymous persons wearing hoods will remove you to a dark site where you will not be heard from for a very long time.

"Any" radio may give varied results....I'd do it with a "good" radio where FM sensitivity is at least 3uV and no imaging of strong stations are all over the band knocking out the weak ones. As I have shown mono gets you farther because ANY radio is much more sensitive in mono. The Eton/Grundig field radio S450 is a good one, so is the Tivoli Audio PAL and the GE Super.
In the USA if you can get more than 200 ft with a cheapy piece of junk you are most likely over.

Do Your Best
Notch your signal up to the highest possible mini-micro-bitsy-watt...
Mark says: "In the USA if you can get more than 200 ft with a cheapy piece of junk you are most likely over."
Carl grabs the microphone and says: That's why you should use a cheapy piece of junk!

Rich Fry,
TSK TSK TSK, stirring the pot only makes the stink worse. Why can't he leave well enough alone?? I am convinced he hates this hobby and is obsessed with tearing it down to the point where no one will want to dabble in radio again or worse, the fcc changes the rules and tightens their grip on our throats by limiting our power even more. More restrictions even less range. So what he has done in effect, is bring this to the fcc's attention that could in turn bring more heat down on those part 15 stations that are serving their communities with a Procaster, Hamilton or ground mounted SSTRAN. The dude needs to stop! Man, get a [Explicit] woman or some other hobby.
[Explicit] on him! Dam, no one has ever made me more angry than that shrew faced ogre.

I know what would happen to him in the Commodore 64/128 and Amiga days. The anti narcs served some harsh punishments to the moles.

Relax.. those post are ancient history now.. It took me a moment to figure out what you were talking about. I checked over at Part15.us thinking he must have been stirring some pot or something, but found nothing there... Finally I realized you were talking about the threads at the link I provided above - but I guess you didn't realize that those post were from back in 2008. Yes, damage was done, but now there are no more grey areas like 'ground leads' left in the Part 15 rules for him to pound on. All the part 15 rules have been picked apart that can be picked apart, no further damage can be done. Everything is cool. Relax.
And the FCC is not going to limit our power even further.. That won't happen. They did briefly consider doing that about 40 years ago to part 15 AM, but didn't. If they didn't do that when AM was still king then they certainly aren't going to do it now. Basically, the only thing that has ever changed in the almost 80 years that part 15 has been in existence was to add the 15.219 option, which actually helped us.
