Me and My Grundig Out at the Car
Remembering that grocery items were still waiting out in the hatchback we grabbed the Grundig FR-200 and headed out.
Tuned to KDX AM 1550 we were hearing the Deutsche Welle Festival Concert from the Bach Fest featuring a Cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach.
This is very churchy Lutheran inspired music from the 1600s featuring orchestra, choir and vocal soloists. Extremely uplifting music for a chilly evening on February 1st.
Setting the radio on a lower porch step it was tilted in such a way that another station was bleeding in and mixing with the Bach. Two guys were talking about why the sun changes color at sunset and the other guy said it was caused by the moon.

It sure isn't the moon...red light being the longest of the visible wavelengths is the color you see when the sun is setting because the other colors can reach earth through the added distance the light has to travel through the atmosphere. The sun isn't really bigger at sunset either as it's actually further from you....the atmosphere causes this illusion.

I was messing around one winter day in Michigan with my Sony boombox when I used to have it. This particular Boombox had a bass boost on it and had excellent AM reception. Anyways I swear it picked up Radio Disney but this station was in Florida on a frequency around 1600 Khz. This happened in the daytime around 5:30 p.m around November.
