I agree, I've been airing VOA regularly (although your supposed to also have an online stream to conform to the rights), I do prefer short format news(VOA is 5 minutes). But I also air PNS 6 minute broadcast(publicnewsservice.org), and Buzz Burbank (15 minute) because he's entertaining.(http://buzzburbank.libsyn.com)
The Shortwave Report it's unique and good, but it's longer at 30 minutes (outfarpress.com/shortwave.shtml). Also 30 minute is CPR for world news (cprnews.podbean.com) which is well done. They are all part 15 friendly news offerings. I hear that SNR News(srnonline.com/news)is also part 15 friendly but I've neither confirmed that or listened to them yet.

The World According To Them
THEY say that VOA slants and edits the news to include only "approved" U.S. messages and excludes certain other news as if it never happened. But so far I've never noticed an example of such a thing and am curious to know of some real-life instances when it may have happened.
Meanwhile, we carry VOA on weekends.

I've heard that same thing, but have never noticed any such slant myself. Maybe that's what Druid meant by "benign", although I thought he was referring to part 15 friendly.

About Salem News
Descendant from the "Salem Witch Persecutions", SRN Newscasts are "Salem Radio Network" and are sticky with the Christian re-shaping of news to reflect anti-choice, misogyny, and denial of some areas of science.
On the other hand most listeners don't think too much about anything and won't notice, which makes it also benign.

Perfect Example
Druid Hills analyzes: "When all other news services were touting how Billary Clinton was going to mop the floor with The Don, VOA was reporting the election was too close to call."
Excellent, DHR, you are to be lauded (no reference to Fort Lauderdale) for your analysis of a VOA Newscast as compared with other newscasts. Shows how subtle a tweak can be in how a story gets told.

You ever see any of the news compilations on Jimmy Kimble, where they show numerous back to back news report clips from a wide variety of newscast across the country? Everyone of the individual reporters say exactly word-per-word the same thing. Evidently it's all a script from a single source (The AP, l assume).

This video utilizes in the beginning one of the collections that Jimmy Kimble showed his audience, and then more of the same

News From Higher Up
I appreciate that End 80 posted: "You ever see any of the news compilations on Jimmy Kimble, where they show numerous back to back news report clips from a wide variety of newscast across the country? I did not know about that but it is very useful to know that Jimmy Kimble is showing this and I'll look for it on Youtube... Oh, and also watch the linked example sent by End80 Radio.
