The History of Part 15_US and The ALPB
The founders of Part15(dot)US brought the much older low power radio hobby to the new medium of the time known as the Internet and the world's first website forum for low power radio hobbyists was born.
Over the years other low power hobby forums came and went, several exist today, but part15(dot)us remains the original, largest, and longest continuously running website of its kind.
In 2013 member Lefty Gomez of Santa Cruz, California, expressed his vision for a membership organization based around audio conferencing and with the participation of Bob Felmly (MRAM 1500) the Association for Low Power Broadcasters was invented, with the support and assistance of part15(dot)us.
Today the ALPB has grown to over 50 members and meets on the first and third Saturdays every month.
Thealpb(dot)com, this website, was added as a recruitment facility for the ALPB and is open to members and non-members alike.
A major documentary film about the amazing low power radio hobby and its membership organizations is not in the planning stage and may never be produced.
