When next the ALPB Meets I plan to submit a proposal for a New Formal Category to be added in future meetings.
The two Formal Categories that are now part of each meeting are Old Business and New Business.
My New Category would be Discussion. Since there is presently no Discussion Category it will need to be initially proposed under New Business. If approved, it will become a third category called Discussion within which particular subjects can be discussed in a formal manner which might include formal arguments and debates.
The question might arise "Isn't our Informal After Meeting Gathering already a discussion?" The answer is "Ya, but that is informal, not focused on any one topic." The After Meeting talk is random and free-flowing without the specific topic formality of a formal category called Discussion.
An example of a topic suitable for formal discussion in the new Discussion Category would be: "Can't a Discussion be held under New Business so there wouldn't need to be a third category called Discussion?
It might turn out that a third Discussion Category isn't necessary, in which case the New Discussion Category will have proven its usefulness.
