As we know, companies of any size have a Public Relations Department with a Public Relations Director and his/her staff. This person bears the responsibility for establishing and maintaining good working relationship between the business and the public it serves.
Personnel Relations Directors strive to keep pleasant working rapport between employers and employees.
Broadcast networks have Station Relations Directors for keeping things running smoothly between the network and its affiliate stations.
Radio stations often have Program Relations Directors to maintain the flow between program producers and their scheduling on the station.
For me, Carl Blare, group radio station owner in the Midwaste of The Homeland, I am considering opening up a temporary holiday job called "Human Relations Director" who will come to work during the three darkest weeks of the year when lack of sunlight causes me to become annoyed, short tempered, sharply critical and impatient with fellow human beings just for acting like themselves.
Things like seeing "LOL" in emails, hearing from old friends who pick the coldest possible time to "stay in touch" or having neighbors bearing gifts ring the doorbell on Christmas cause fists to clench and muttering "God Damn It" while I hope they all go away and let me run my radio station.
Having a Human Relations Director who could step in and take care of it would ensure that I'd still have friends after the sunlight returned.
How the hell do you make it through the long darkness?
