Three of Us (that I know of) Are Running Websites from Our Home Computer
We three are MRAM 1500, Blue Bucket Radio, and KDX Worldround Radio.
We have found that for small volume activity this works very well as long as we don't attract too much traffic, the bottle-neck being the bandwidth of our internet connection.
Most of 2016 has been spent migrating my website from a commercial account which will expire in January 2017, after which I'll save the expense.
Having two websites running at the same time has been confusing, and for a few weeks my streaming radio links have been pointing in confused directions and only this week have I realized what a mess it had become. Fortunately, it's all been organized and once again my two listeners can find me.
Besides the monetary savings I'm finding another great advantage of doing it from home... when I update web pages I can save them straight into my home web server, whereas with the commercial account there was a very lengthy process of logging in, enduring pop-up sales offers, and going through many steps.
Home websites are the perfect thing for hobby radio and maybe we should have a seminar about it at one of our ALPB Meetings.
