Listening to the standard fare of Christmas carols pushed upon us at this time of year can get tiring. To combat this, I've put together, for my own enjoyment, a playlist that is decidedly different. In addition to reindeer, there are dogs, cats, frogs, pigs and even rubber bands (sorry, but I couldn't think of any other place to put that). There's also plenty of dancing, alcohol, politics, monsters, aliens and much, much more. I'm making the stream available to those interested. While there are no guarantees how long it will stay up, here is the link: 65.110.28.103:8000/ArtisanRadio.mp3

Streaming Artisan Here at KDX
I pasted the link into VLC Player and am enjoying the Artisan Different Christmas here on 89.9 FM.
Artisan, you'll have to tell us about the woman who announces the songs.
Sound quality is clear. I don't know that VLC reports the kbps but that's just the technician in me... I don't need to know... it sounds fine.
I'll check it again once in awhile.
I can only take short does because it makes me want to shop.

The Surgeon General has determined that prolonged exposure to the Artisan Radio Alternative Christmas may be harmful to your brain.

Learned Something New
I just found out that VLC does allow seeing the "under the hood" information by clicking on Tools/ Media Information/ Codec: Mono 44.1 KHz 48 kbps.
What it doesn't seem to show is whether it's Shoutcast or Icecast or Other, although I think that can be found through the Browser... let me try.
Minutes Later
Yes. I was able to see the Icecast2 Server Page and it shows the current song.
You should have given the warning about brain damage ahead of time.

If so I would like to link to it on Christmas Eve and run it on our LPFM

It should. I have to admit I haven't listened to every song all the way through. Let me know if I've missed anything.

Right now, over 10 hours (although Zara will often repeat before it should). I'll be doubling that over the next week or so.

I've captured 4 hours worth of some of the best stuff I have heard in years. With your permission I would like to air it on WLSL-LP at 4PM ET on Dec 24 & 25.

Alternative Christmas
The Alternative Christmas Feed from Artisan Radio is the true spirit not only of the Season, but of the ALPB, which according to Founder Lefty Gomez's dream was to be a resource for stations to share and co-operate.
John Druid Hills has signed onto carrying Alternative Artisan Radio Christmas for his LPFM station, and of course other low power stations are making their programming a gift to their listeners.
Even KDX Radio, serving the niche secular population, provides a service to Christmas Celebrants who get that new radio for Christmas, and already being over-saturated with Christmas goodies, are thrilled to find "regular programs" so they can get a feel for what their radio can find.
Something for everyone with low power radio.
