Yes when I looked at the one posted by you on part15(dot)us it looks as if 87.1-87.9 is open season because it still says broadcast TV and we know they are not using it for that anymore. And I've still not heard about the FCC's decision of the open space transmitters and the rather or if legality of 87.7, 87.9 has been up for discussion to become legal for unlicensed transmitters and of course the 1 Watt.
If it becomes a reality a whole lot of us will be happy.

As do Chicago, Houston, New York, Baton Rouge, Fort Worth, etc.

Did they actually take the actual signal and move it to UHF? There is a channel 6 in Richmond, VA but no digital noise or anything here in Deltaville comes on 87.7 Mhz. In Lansing, Mi there is a channel 6 too however again No digital noise from channel 6.
There was supposed to be this auction to where some of the lower TV channels could go back to the original frequency however I think again that was put off. Not to mention that these FREE TV Key and the Flat Wave Antenna won't be of any use if they went back to the original lower frequencies. I think the public would be outraged if they had to buy all new antennas if the FCC were to one day suddenly change the TV system AGAIN without any public input.
Lots of folks were quite P'd about the digital converter issue and they'd be more upset if they had to again buy a new antenna to receive over the air TV. This is why I'm quite sure these frequencies won't be used anytime soon for FULL powered TV broadcasting. Maybe part 15 or LPTV and I'm talking almost ultra low power TV but nothing of much interest to the public.
