They call these "Forum Boards", but nobody ever explains what form of the word "board" is meant by it...
You've got boards as in lumber, boards as in "bulletin-boards", all kinds of "wall-board", and there are boards of directors like school boards. Along the sea-cost they have "board-walks". Some people are easily bored. So what are we talking about?
What is a forum board?

It comes from the term Bulletin Board. Used in the text era of the Internet and dial up users.

I figured it kind of got its name from a literal cork bulletin board.
