Howdy You All: Here is a good topic to bring up just as a reminder.
How to do a proper taped program show in good radio practice.
1) Never recorded a tape program with your public service announcement's (PSA) or public spot's or Commercial s spots on the taped program !
a) The psa, pubilc spots, commericals should be put on live when the program is being aired !
b) The reason for this is if you loose the account or the business in not around anymore !
c) Never say time or weather on a taped show !
d) Never say a date on a taped show !
e) Reason for this so you can use the taped show at anytime without worries having a,b,c,d as listed above on the tape program !
2) Do a preset test of a low and high level of the program your going to use and set your levels and leave alone !
a) Never announce over music or program lericks, That's just in bad taste !
3) When working with mikes
a) Your should always be a least 2 inches away from mike this help from overdriving (distortion) and your P from poping !
b) Always do a mike level test check before tapeing a show !
I only brought this up do to I have someone prerecorded show and it has an ad on it which has nothing to do for my area at all !
So now I got to edit the taped program to get rid of ad before airing !

Jeff, I went through your "How To Do a Show" list item by item and I have only broken one of your suggestions!
When I did the Blare OnAir series I deliberately mentioned time of day, date, year and other clues so that in the future people would know when I did the show and they'd know it was snowing or hot or early in the morning.
It's different on the Low Power Hour, which completely follows all your rules so that the show always seems like it's happening right now.
Another good guide from Station8.

More Ideas On Doing Program Shows
This isn't exactly about doing individual programs, it is more about setting up a program list for a day of programs on a personal part 15 station.
My station carries programs I want to hear so it can be a problem if someone calls me on the telephone while I'm trying to listen to a show, but I have found a solution.
Using a combination of Zara's sequential files and sweeper announcements I have made a clock much like WWV The Time Radio Station. The clock TICKS for 1-minute and then a voice (me) gives the LATEST TIME.
Whenever my listening is interrupted I start the radio clock and let it run until I'm back. Then I listen to the shows I would have missed.
Coming up with this solution makes me deserving of an award. I know it, you know it, and it's only a matter of time.
