The Zara logging capability, controlled under Options\Log, is described as providing a text file listing the times and file names played from a playlist over a period of time.
Trouble for me is that the Log.txt file I get only shows the most recently played file. It only shows one audio file and not all of the audio files played in the recent past.
Only one other menu choice refers to "log" and that is Log Browser which the instruction says can be used to search a log text file to locate a particular audio file in the list, but my Log Browser shows nothing and achieves nothing.
After spending hours trying to discover what I'm doing wrong, my final resort is to come here and ask people who know, such as Johny.
HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!
GOT IT! FIGURED IT OUT!
For others who may run against this... here is what happens.
Zara saves TWO files in the log drawer. currentsong(dot)txt is one of the files saved which shows only the song most recently started in the Playlist.
The 2nd file will not show up in your text editor because it is not a .txt file, it is a .log file, which will show up in the text editor when you choose "show all files".
These things are not explained in the Zara Manual.
Thank me.

Yes, the "currentsong.txt" file is useful for updating the metadata of your streaming audio. The Zara 1.6 lets you choose where to save that file too. The "log" file keeps a running tab of all files played on a daily basis. In the options setup you can specify where you want the log files saved. The "log" file is very helpful when you have funky stuff happening to the Zara player. You can spot errored files and figure out what caused Zara to run afoul. Using the "ZaraWebRDS" utility, an html file can be created to show the current song playing as well as the last 10 songs. This html file can be uploaded to a web host and displayed on a webpage. "ZaraWebRDS" uses the "currentsong.txt" file for the updates. Here is a link to my "ZaraWebRDS" test file for MRAM: MY PLAYLIST
Now, if only the ZaraRadio "currentsong.txt" file used the MP3 tags instead of the file name, I'd give it a 10.

There is software that will pull the MP3 tag data from Zara. In the 8 years I've used Zara I'm amazed I never noticed the logs aren't saved as .txt files.

Now, if only the ZaraRadio "currentsong.txt" file used the MP3 tags instead of the file name, I'd give it a 10. I have to agree with you on this one. The other thing I have issues with, is I use BUTT software to stream my feed out to the national server, the song title of the MP3 files, not the meta data, shows up on the playlist and there is no possible option to send the artist info at the same time. I could name a song Saturday - Chicago.mp3 I suppose, but then the album art does not show up on certain web players no matter what I do or how I name the songs. I also have various copies of the same song, so in order to avoid duplicate names, I title one song Saturday.mp3 then Saturday (1).mp3 the (1) shows up on the players along with the title. The tags however, can be duplicates without Windows 10 OS complaining about duplicate file names. Bruce.

If you tag all the mp3 files there is a setting in Zara that will make it display only the metadata. You can then use a program such as "update title" that will then push the correct metadata to your server. That is the method I have always used, though all my file names are "artist - title(Year).mp3" as a fallback.
It is pretty standard practice in radio to go ahead and change all the filenames to "artist - song.mp3" anyway. Makes it a TON easier to sort though system folders as well.
