Broadcast news relating to Part 15 radio has been slow this spring, so I will become the news by reporting on my own stations.
Acting-Lord Carl Blare, main man in charge of KDX Worldround Radio, is planning severe cutbacks to the station's operation.
"The big problem is that these radio projects tend to expand and KDX has expanded and as the only staff member that actually exists all the responsibility lands on me and I'm trying to have a leisurely hobby for God sake."
Continuing, Lord Blare added, "There are many radio characters here that do not exist, including my assistant Flotilla DeGlued, chief-engineer Larry Linear, board-op Ned Steddy, special events announcer Morgan Ford, legal counsel Stag Pinstripe, medical practitioner Dr. Procter Cavalier, psychological adviser Sigmund Psickie, talk show diva Haughty Shish, barber/commentator Buster Boatrocker and others I remember occasionally. These characters argue with me all the time but are of no help at all."
The ALPB News wanted to know more about the planned cutbacks.
"Right," said Blare, "One bottle neck for sure is our programming. We have fantastic programming and our listener loves it but the problem is there is more good programming being made available all time and the listener does things like sleep or social outings and isn't listening all the time so we need to reduce the amount of programming to fit his listening schedule, which is my listening schedule, for I am he."
"So, then there's technical expansion like getting our carrier current, shortwave and longwave stations on the air, as well as KHZ AM 1640, the Indoor Experimental Antenna Station. Oh, and the two outdoor antenna towers we want to build. Plus, plus we want to set up a Ramsey AM25B Transmitter for operation on 1710 kHz and build an AM transmitter designed by Radio8Z and get second AMT5000 and Ramsey FM30B Transmitters."
What else?, wondered ALPB News.
"Well," Carl said in closing, "As much as I hate to do so, I may need to let some of the characters go. I mean, there's also the Low Power Hour to think about and our online stream."
So there you have it, ALPB News readers. One Part 15 radio station struggling under the weight of its own success.
