www.howtogeek.com/audacity-3-7-update/Audacity 3.7 just released. It's not a major update buy more a kind of precursor to 4.0 coming out soon. It does however have some new features in 3.7 include improved real-time effects, a new "Notch Filter" for isolating or removing specific frequency ranges better, bug fixes for plugin performance, improvements to macros and scripting, compatibility with third-party tools, and added effects directly within the software. It also includes updates fo MacoS users. .

I was a die-hard user of Adobe Audition 3.0 for my studio as it supports ASIO sound cards for multi-tracking. I cut my teeth on it, so I was reluctant to try anything else. It's still my main app for processing/editing files.
However, I do occasionally use Audacity now for tracking long mono or stereo tracks, no ASIO support yet.
Surprisingly, it has some features not found in Audition. But the one thing I really like is the way it records the audio file, in short pieces. The advantange is when the computer crashes, as most Windows PC's do occasionally, you only lose the last few seconds of your audio file instead of the whole thing. Although it's not always a Windows problem, sometimes a power loss or short glitch shuts down the PC and using Audition, you just lost it all.
You can't beat Audacity's price...

Yeah, it always comes down to familiarity with the software, so I get what your talking about.
With Zara for example, I always stuck with it. Probably have tried about every radio automation out there, but stick with Zara, not because it's free (though that helps), but because it serves the purpose perfectly for me, does everything I want and more and theres no learning curve, I'm familiar with it. Why should I switch to something else and have to figure out all over again how to use it? It's always been trouble free.

Something about old dog, new tricks.
Per Johny Coles recommendation, I did try out Salamandra. It is very similar to ZaraRadio. Once I figured out how to get it into English, it got much easier to figure out.
I haven't spent much time with it, made a playlist, set a simple schedule and ran a test for awhile. Definitely a keeper and Johny says it solves the Windows glitches that Zara has.
And it also is free so that's a plus...
