Happy New Years to all (or at least let it be better then the dumpster fire we called 2020) With the consolidation of many local station into clusters or being absorbed by the Borg, there is a lot of usable older kit being sent to the dumpster. If you are lucky enough to score any of the older gear that uses an ISDN BRI phone lines (Telos Twox12 as an example), I have the notes on how to connect it to a SIP/VOIP trunk via a Cisco 2600 series router. The provider I am using is $0.009/minute for direct inbound calls, $0.019/minute if they route via a toll free number. In perspective: that's 5000 minutes at typical Ma Bell landline rates using a flat rate residential line!
