Programming from transmitters of KDX has been closed in response to the as yet unexplained assault on The Crow by a supposed FCC agent. We are not inclined to enjoy the radio hobby while anticipating a piracy action by domestic terrorists from the government.
Part 15 activities on the part of KDX will continue in the background with production of The Low Power Hour and participation in the ALPB.
Ongoing antenna experiments and equipment design will be followed to completion.

Carl, I'm sure there will be much to discuss at the next ALPB meeting.
Until then, I don't think you should resort to such drastic measures. Is there some reason you feel your station could be judged as non-compliant? I'm sure you as most of us believe we are compliant with the rules. At the least, if there is a problem it would not be a "willful violation."
As for surprise inspections, I would be reluctant to surrender any equipment that is certified for Part 15 use if properly installed as the FCC "What To Expect" fact sheet addresses non-compliant equipment.
I think it would be prudent to have a "check list" for the inspection covering items such as employee name and signature, badge number, reason for inspection, any equipment surrendered, etc. Perhaps a camcorder of the inspection for future reference would be handy.
I would also want to have available for inspection my own fact sheet which details my equipment and certifications, installation details and operations.

Thank you MRAM for your message. Yes, this will make useful discussion at the Meeting. On the one hand I do not presume I am personally targeted for any reason, and yet I hate surprises, and the government these days is using an East German rulebook. I'll reserve more comment until the Meeting. See you there.

During this silent period KDX is operating sporadically on an ever changing frequency as an Experimental Radio Station. The station's function as a fulltime program service is closed for now.

Carl, I think when (if) the real story is told about these recent actions, we'll see the FCC was warranted in their actions. We don't want to see this happen to anyone, especially an ALPB member. But, if someone is pushing the envelope they have to accept the consequence.
I really don't believe the FCC is on a vendetta. I believe there was a problem I'm just not quite sure how or why this was brought to their attention.
I have the OET certification info on hand for my Talking House transmitter and ATU. I have vendor info advertising the use and advantage of the ATU. I have emails from the manufacturer and the vendor which backup the use of the ATU. I feel confident that I have installed my station in a manner consistent with Part 15 rules per the manufacturers instruction. In short, I am not changing my operation out of fear of the unknown.
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

You bring a major point into the discussion, MRAM, and that is the question of "fear management." As for the role of ALPB, I think we should be helping Part 15 by an example of "responsible fear management," and I think that is indeed the main theme of what is now happening.
Now that I understand that transmitter "operation" makes an inspection possible, it is reassuring to know that "non operation" is like a big NO ADMITTANCE sign.
Being "on duty" by way of "operation" makes Part 15 more of a service and less of a hobby. (I may not have the right word, i.e., profession, work, duty, service, on-call, draftee?)
