Working on a concept for a second "set" in the studio. Basic inspiration is the tonight show set. Due to space and exit pathway constraints, we are limited to where things can be placed.
The basic plan is to clean up the wall behind the couch by opening the wall and moving all of the blocking and wiring inside the wall, and adding sound proofing material to the wall cavity.
One option under consideration is to remove the door to the right, and close the opening (this door is not historically significant and was added in the late 1980's)
Miking options being considered are boom mounting, shotguns on the floor, lavalier on the talent, or plate mikes on a coffee table in front of the couch

I don't quite understand what your doing or asking for suggestions about. Are you wanting to set up some kind of video talk show thing?

Yes - we currently do a livestream from the podcast table, however there were a small number of requests for a seated-on-the-couch type set.

If I were doing it I'd probably leave the door, it could be the "guest entrance". Build a narrow cabinet one stud width from the wall, just enough to cover the electrical outlets, leave about a 6 inch open space cut out of the stud sides for the wires to feed, and put doors on the front to get to the outlets. That would also provide a two inch shelf as long as however wide you go with the cabinet. Put a desk on the other side of the door kind of angled outward from the door so both those on the couch and desk would have good camera shot. Would probably also put up some kind of divider about 6 foot high behind where the little-head bears side with it at the same but opposite angle of the desk. Building a false wall would probably look better and even be cheaper that one of those folding room dividers
Or.... cover the entire back wall and around the door with and attractive wall length curtain, so only the monitor and the two speakers are seen. Be sure the room has plenty of light.
If it were me I'd start in one of those directions and see where I actually end up at.
I'd probably also cover the couch.
