Well my MOTU sound system PCI interface card causes the PC to crash since the latest Win 10 updates.
Thought either the PC died or the MOTU PC card had a problem but niether is the case.
PC runs fine if the card is removed and the card runs fine in an XP box.
Loaded the latest MOTU drivers but no help there.
What a pain...

Could be worse - A medical device used for anesthesia decided to update itself during a procedure.

Maybe you can block updates with your HOSTS file, that's what I've done with programs that won't stay in the corner and keep quiet.
My station computers mostly use XP currently, and used Windows 2000 in the past. That's all audio playback, with Win 7 on the streaming/recording micro PC, because that's what it came with, and the 64-bits helps.
There are many things in newer Windows to stop for a studio environment, I think newer Windows is only good for entertainment and playing around on the web.

W10 is a roaring pain in the seat with the updates. We run WSUS, so I blocked all of the known update servers on the firewall.
Lo & behold, they hard-coded a few more as backups!

With MS getting ready to push out yet another version of W10 (1809) , you should grab a backup copy of 1803:

Sometimes I wonder why haven't I just installed Windows 7 instead on my Laptop. Even Windows 8.1 with Classic Shell updated to the point where it says you can't update anymore until you go Windows 10. I had absolutely no issues with NextKast or any of my Radio station software when running Windows 8.1

You can go to windows administration tools and select never to updates. They are a pain and I have windows 10 and everytime it updates I have a brand new look to everything, what was wrong with it before? Don't know why everything has to keep changing. It's like redoing the kitchen in your house when there was nothing wrong with it before.
