Re the pirate thread on part15.org at part15.org/forums/reply/106484/Not sure what portion is appropiate to post under the forum rules, but here's the thumbnail: Rather then a post on the forum or an email, one of the forum members issued a DMCA takedown complaint re the page to my ISP. My hosting company basically is threatining to nuke the entire site in 24 hours because of the DMCA notice . So rather than loose the entire site, I took down the pirate radio page. SP

What is a DMCA notice? Trying to understand what happened at part 15.org?

The Digital Millennium Copyright ACT...
In a nutshell, this is about copyright protection. If material is copied from a website without permission for publication to another website, the material owner can file a complaint with the host of the offending site to have the material removed without going to court.
What was on the "Pirate" page that caused the complaint?

Spareparts was not blocked from posting on part15.org and there is no evidence that the person who flagged him to his ISP for DMCA violation is (or is not) a member of the Part15.org forum.
If you are interested, there is a lot more information about this situation in the thread titled "So hows this cut & paste explaining what Low Power broadcasting is?" at the Part15.org forum.

Well with other moderators running that site some of which went rogue on mram I don't know what's going on. I'm a little afraid to have much to do with the site anymore.
The last thing I need is to get a notice for doing a copy and paste of any post on that other site. Just to let everyone know most of the post on the public section of the new radio Revolution can be posted on other sites as most of that stuff is public domain. I would have a problem though if some of the elite material were posted on a public forum and only then what I issue a DMCA complaint against the poster but most likely I would ask them to take it down and if they didn't then I would do something.
It would actually have to depend on the intent rather it was out of malice or not.
