They talk about cheap badly designed transmitters because those are a few dollars less, but the main number one transmitter for KDX Worldround Radio is the AMT5000 from SSTran.com.
Our AMT5000 drives a Wintenna, a metal windowframe extended to 3-meters by vertical wires attached at the top and bottom, plus two ground radials facing north and south.
Yesterday I was so proud when I heard "Today's News with Don DeBar" over a thousand feet from the Internet Building on the car radio coming from KDX. It was far enough away that the building could not be seen.
Right now I'm thinking about driving up there again to hear "Democracy Now with Amy Goodman", which will no doubt sound better at that distance than it does right here within 15-feet of the transmitter.
