Something New This Way Comes
Already the Low Power Empire consists of the Two Best Forum Sites in the Universe, TheALPB.com and Part15.org, plus our friendly relationships with various other forum sites operated by members (this is your cue to do a plug for your forum site), and now something Big and New is about to be added to the mix!
It will be called The Blare Blog, and will be part of my own website, KDXradio.com.
On the Blare Blog I will be able to post Reviews of the Low Power Forums!
Comments about anything in or out of existence!
It will be possible to say things that would give forum moderators insomnia.
My contract with KDX Worldround Radio requires exclusivity, which means I'll no longer be permitted to post on these forums, but I will certainly continue as a member and participate in every other way.
Oh, I see one exception clause here in the tiny print... I'll be allowed to post links to the Blog and to occasional radio programs at the forums to keep us all connected.
The Grand Opening of The Blare Blog is scheduled for Sunday July 8th, the day following the next ALPB Meeting on July 7th.
The Blog will not be a forum, but Email will be welcome and in some cases may be shown burning in an ash tray.
Now we'll take questions.

Good Luck on your Website.I have seen a sort of "churn" in the part 15 hobby broadcasting community. Some sign off because they get burnt out on it and other's join and some come back after leaving it for a time. I'd like to see range tests and video's of stations. However with the rise of entities who have a ax to grind against hobby broadcasting I can see why some choose not to. But those who do wish to there are services like Pcloud in which seem to work nicely for the I Love AM Radio forum on Facebook. I listened to some good air checks and a very nice story about Larry Lujack and WLS and WCFL. The CKLW one was also refreshing as well. The Initiative site is a good place as well as I've made it more part 15 friendly as well as changed some of the mission there. There is still the old files in the Elite section but more importantly information in the open area whereas it has always been public domain. It has always been public domain and we don't play "I'm better than you." the-initiative.boards.net

The Churn
That is a good word for it, TheLegacy, there is a definite churn going on regarding toy radio.
Radio cannot be divorced from the world it serves.
Yet the ultra-conservatives who've held a grip on low power forums want to keep the membership from too much exposure to the same world within which the stations operate. As an army drill-sergeant once said, "They need to eat some beans so they can blow their head out of their a__".

Absolutely.

Toy Radio
'Toy radio' is a fun term, and could even be a name for a radio station somewhere. When I think of it, it's only toy radio when compared to larger or commercial broadcasters, and their power level and range.
It could be toy radio because it doesn't have a license, but again, that's sort of a construction brought about by the rules. It could be toy radio if the operator promotes their station as such, like a version of saying 'low power', or one of the ways I've put it, the smallest radio station.
Back in the 1990s, a friend had his tiny station get in the news, and the reporters who came to do the story actually expected a toy radio station, with a few pieces of cheap equipment on a table, making me picture a Mr. DJ plastic toy station setup for kids. In reality he had a full semi-pro setup.
I think we as tiny unlicensed stations can do even better in some ways than the big guys, like I take pride in being a high fidelity broadcaster, and my station is self-contained and simple, and that helps to have very low down time.
How about a new term, Adult Toy Radio.. but then that could conjure up ideas of another kind.

Blare Blog
Oh, to the original post! I think it's always good to have an independent blog no matter what you do on line. Some do all 'social media' sites like the big ones we all know about, and I worry about that because if the pages go down, then they have nothing, since they relied on 'the cloud'.
The Blare Blog could be linked in your signature in posts, so people could look at any of your writings and get to it. You could post on forums about a topic, and maybe expand on it at the blog.
Are you going to use blog posting software, or do it as a web page with your editor?
I'll be sure to read it.

Early Mention
Boomer dreams aloud: "How about a new term, Adult Toy Radio.. but then that could conjure up ideas of another kind."
I don't know what you mean.
Asking about the plans: "Are you going to use blog posting software, or do it as a web page with your editor?"
The ladder. Or, I mean, the latter.
I use Mozilla Kompozer to make html pages and that's the only software I'm familiar with.
I will be my own moderator.

Too Heavy

Don't take it so seriously.

I still like the term Micro Broadcasting Lots to learn too with this. Materials made for antennas on Micro Broadcasting stations do not work exactly the same as for High Power stations. For example some folks think bigger is better as far as AM antennas for low power stations.
I've read that even if the FCC allowed more length of antenna but kept the power level the same that the power may not even reach beyond a certain length without adding resistance and cutting your nose to spite your face. Watching overseas video's showed some demo's of this theory.
Though my station has a short range I still have listeners I've been complemented already about the sound quality of my station. I'm actually sitting and listening to the sweet sonds of Electric Light Orchestra and almost forgetting I'm listening to AM. This I could not say back on June 5th 2015 when I started to mess with what I think is the worst AM transmitter on the market as far as Audio and harmonics.
Keeping The Faith My father knew how much this hobby meant to me and he thought a small town would do better for Hobby Radio and boy was he right. He tried to find a landlord for me that was open minded about an antenna install. He then told me all about Deltaville, VA and told me I should move there and try my Station in Deltaville.
Determination equals followers and donations My dream was to become an Album Rock Station that folks would want to listen to. Having to use AM at first was like mixing Lorance Welk with Mc Hammer I didn't think there was any way possible any Album Rocker in their serious hard minded religious fashion would ever take AM seriously. But 3 yrs later almost to the day we were fortunate to have ran into a broadcast engineer who also was a true die hard Album Rocker and had the same thought and money to solve an almost unsolvable oxymoron.
C-Quam 1640 was born It started out at 1700 Khz but we saw 1640 did work better. Even at night the frequency seemed quieter. We had a lot of hurtles as we began the adventure of C-Quam with the Sean Cuthbert transmitter but finally it is actually a joy to listen to not a ringing fatigue that was God awful. The Audio Processor also helps to keep things clean even to a good Mono Am receiver that can't decode C-Quam.
Hard work pays off and though daunting I think its very rewarding when things finally work. I've met some nice folks all because of my stance to this niche format that needs resurrection as the AOR community is one of the most resilient and sted fast folks I've ever met. I'm glad I can keep its legacy (pardon the pun) going.

Amusing Musing
What a great description from TheLegacy - "Having to use AM at first was like mixing Lorance Welk with Mc Hammer."
That is very funny and paints a picture of a very yukky concoction.
We had another member say he "could do without the musing" in the posts by our stations, but how can we share our radio experience without wonderful musings?

Putting Welk with MC Hammer might not be too far fetched these days, due to mashup artists who use a computer to jam different songs and even styles of music and dialog together. I found the scene in the 2000s when a musician melded two classic rock album masterpieces together, The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper and The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, and created 'The Beachles' Someone made him take the recordings off of his site, perhaps Brian Wilson or Yoko Ono or someone complained, but the word was out and the story made the news media. Soon, many more mashups were made, and it's become a big part of music, with thousands of songs made by now. Look for 'mashup' on your music getter program, and you can probably still find the Beachles on some website or a torrent even now. I listened to the first three Beachles songs over and over, because it was so clever and unlikely, fun! Take a Lawrence Welk hit like Calcutta, and then put it with U Can't Touch This, which itself was a mix with Hammer's rap with Rick James' Superfreak. Good start to your blog Carl, nice and clean. Aren't web pages beautiful when there isn't a lot on them? I've started a new page with just a beautiful background and a header title or graphic at the top of the page, and didn't want to defile it by adding anything.. Boomer
