Being turned down can hurt, even more so when the person turning you down is yourself.
No, that's really what happened. I came up with what I think is still a great idea, but when I thought about it I decided it would never fly and turned myself down.
What I was going to do was publish "Fool's News", news stories so ridiculous our slogan would be "Anybody Who Believes This Deserves What They Get."
This was going to be my first big story:
WASHINGTON D.C. ABANDONED
Following the deepest snow ever dumped on the Nation's Capital the street crews have thrown in the towel and left town, leaving the city buried in 4-feet of snow.
"This is just stupid," said one snow plow driver after spending two days failing to locate a place to put all the snow they needed to clear. "We're driving around in the snow looking for places to put the stuff and we keep making snow banks that block traffic... then all this traffic blocks our trucks because it has nowhere to go, and the politicians have all gone to Bermuda and keep calling me asking me to go slow so they don't have to come right back. I'm not putting up with this s_word."
It appears at the present time there is no Federal government, but remains unclear whether the whole country has gone out of existence.
