I love my Audio Processor Makes AM Album Rock quality!! I dreaded the thought of going AM but thanks to a very generous donation to our station we have the Audio Processor along with a 3 band cross over. It took my broadcast engineer friend a little time to tune up the processor but we are on air with a sound that is nice. The station has a Big Radio sound.
Without the processor the tallking house AM transmitter sounds like someone plugged their nose while talking. Music was fatiguing to listen to a bloody joke indeed. It was a pleasure riding in the van with the engineer while listening to the broadcast and laughing while Album Rock was playing on 1700 Khz AM.
Neutral injection carrier current may come to Deltaville, VA As the engineer looked at the power lines and how they were laid out he laughed and said YOU'LL HAVE NO ISSUE WITH CARRIER CURRENT!! So on word and up. Our album Rock station will be improving with C Qualm AM Stereo with Audio Processing.
It goes to show that people LOVE Album Rock and will do anything to maintain its existence in this harsh world against real talented Rock. Stay Tuned we are growing.

Good for you on the processor, you probably needed to jack up the highs if the receivers were sounding nasal. Pre-emphasis is so standard on FM, but not so on AM, when it comes to low power transmitters.
In the case of the Talking House, that's considered to be a voice unit, and engineers wouldn't have thought of treble boosting, and other transmitters might be made for antique radios designed with flat response, that means they don't have de-emphasis to sound right with treble boosted audio.
I'm glad that you want to try out carrier current with C-QUAM stereo, and if you have someone who knows what they're doing, you can really rock it as far as range and getting the best sound!

My Admiration for a Man Who Keeps Building
TheLegacy deserves a lot of credit for being a guy who keeps working toward his goal which he keeps always clearly in his mind!
TheLegacy had serious doubts about AM, but apparently, with the help of good engineering assistance, has managed to make AM do the job!

Yes it can. But it requires lots of processing. And knowing what to do as far as the range problem.
Am has lots of noise this is true but the one thing about carrier current is that you can slowly turn the wattage up until you're heard. The signal stays in a confined area such as my town in Deltaville Virginia and the big boys in the bigger cities would not hear the signal thus they can't complain about what they don't hear.
I look at carrier current is sort of a cable AM effect. With part 15 section 221 you divide 157000 into the frequency and that is the distance that you can transmit a 15 microvolt signal. So it's roughly 92 ft away from the power lines for a station on 1700 kilohertz AM.
That my processor does help with the issues normally expressed with the talking house transmitter alongside the three band crossover that I have.
I'm anxious to see just what we come up with as far as our range and our sound quality but already the people around the complex are interested in my station. We're thinking about having a yard sale at the complex and during the yard sale there will be advertisements for the Legacy and we will also advertise the yard sale. People can check it out and we're hoping by that time are C quam AM stereo transmitter will be functioning.
The idea is to have a receiver somewhere on the premises to show listeners what they are missing and get folks to consider investing in a receiver capable of C quam AM stereo.
I also know I will be talking quite a bit about the Tecsun, Grundig, County Comm, Sangean, and HD radios for receiving Hobby stations.
This is in part of my Album Rock Revitalization scheme. It's highly supported in Deltaville,VA and Gorgensville, VA where my friend runs his.
Me telling folks over the air about the plan and letting it be known is starting to pay off. And we are going to continue to do what we have to do to get our signal out to this town and present a very well respected album Rock format in which I am sure most will be very satisfied with.

Grundig Thumbs Down
Good going TheLegacy except are you sure about Grundig.
Of three Grundig analog dial tune radios I've purchased they all drift excessively!
Hundreds of dollars tied up in radios that will not stay tuned to a frequency.
Of course there maybe some models that are better.

Drifting on an Isle Of Dogs (bunch of cheap radios)
I have drifting on cheaper analog tuner radios too, especially one from Radio Shack that has a DSP tuner chip, but others with DSP analog drift too. I don't think it's a technology that's perfected yet.
The tuner in the ones I've seen is a variable resistance potentiometer, like a volume control is made. Tuning and band switching is accomplished by changing voltage levels.
I'll make up an example, but the actual voltages are different. 1 volt into the chip might mean to tune in the AM band, and the tuning pot might vary that voltage from 1 to 1.2 volts to tune from 530 to 1710. The switch to shortwave might happen at 1.3 volts into the chip, FM at 2.0 volts.
The tuning is apparently dealing with such small changes in voltage to go from one station to another that the pot isn't precise or stable enough to hold that exact voltage for too long. The chip tries to lock in the station, but it drifts off and pops over to and adjacent frequency on my radio, or the volume drops.
This applies to new analog tuner AM radio that tune in steps or jumps, be careful and review it well, or get a digitally tuned version, it should be much better.
Keep on rockin' The Legacy!

All so remember that your internet stream if you have one can do with some processing as well. You can realy tell the streams with no processing.
