I think the Procaster is a good transmitter, but I haven't had experiences with the others.
Would you happen to know what kind of issues the non-working transmitters have, or what might have happened to them to get where they are?
I noticed what looks like modifications on some of them, like a large cement resistor on the bottom of a Rangemaster board, and extra transformers, AC or audio?
The assumption is that a station had a network of those and did the mods for their requirements. Is the Procaster also modified, or is it just broken, and what might its damage consist of, and also is it an older or newer model? My old one has a square box, and newer ones are curvy. Is the antenna with the Procaster?
Do any of the oscillator boards (frequency modules) come with the transmitters?
I'm not really thinking of starting my own network yet, but individual transmitters might help others I'm in contact with to get started, if they can be fixed, and a spare Procaster would be nice to have.

one rangemaster is untested which is a much older revision, one rangemaster has something loading down the supply thus it won't power up (possibly a diode), and the 3rd the audio cuts in and out (possibly a result of the modifications. the procaster had a low output issue i attempted to fix and just couldn't do it as my hands shake and i have poor eyesight so it is difficult these days for me to work on these small parts.
they also come with the mentioned daughter boards and frequency modules that i just paid over $400 for. $99 /board $25 / module plus $8 shipping.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with the talking sign.
Keith estimated $75-$150 / Ea to fix them. and Chez quoted $65 flat fee plus $25 return shipping to fix the procaster.

Thank you for the info, I'll consider it and look up info such as schematics and maps of the Rangemaster board layouts, so I can see what's going on there.
If others are interested for your stations and can use it more than me or have more time, go for it.
Thanks for your descriptions, that helps interested parties!

i'm actually waiting on an email from keith on what op amps were in them for the audio driver stage. i am going to remove the mods. it appears that it is simply an external board with a audio IC and transformer. the op amp is just bypassed with this contraption and the only other connection is involved in this mod appears to just be +/- DC tapped off the main board to power IC amp.

they all work now, i put them on my bench and they all generate RF and pass audio. if i sell them, price is now $500.00 ea. / Transmitter.
i have a Rev. D and 2 Ref. F
there are no RF mods done to these,
only audio section mods. upgraded transformers and modulator section.

Good that you took a second look at those and got them working again!
I couldn't tell what those modifications were about, and I was going to suggest talking to the station you got the rigs from to see what they'd done, if you could.

i dissected them and from what i could see they replaced the onboard audio transformer with a heftier one and replaced the simple op amp with a higher grade audio amp section.
they sound great on my optimod 9100B2.
i figure about $400.00 is reasonable for two part 15 certified TX's i am selling, including shipping packing and insurance. it will cost about $100.00 to have chez fix the procaster and the Talking Sign is in perfect condition and put in a very expensive nema weatherproof housing with a 3/8x24 thread to fit a standard 102" cb whip.
it will cost about 100.00 to ship these conus with packing and insurance etc.
