Transmitter Shacks Attract MiceNobody wants them, but they spend 24-hours-a-day seeking an entrance. Now you can throw a welcoming party for them! Mouse Reception Kit

My four cats are my "Mouse Reception Committee" plus I am setting up one of my air rifles for night vision so I can get in on the fun, but this bowl with cooking oil also looks like fun, though when I "clean them up" afterwards it won't be exactly the way he did it. Do Mice Go To Heaven?
Righto with Admin: "When I "clean them up" afterwards it won't be exactly the way he did it (in the video)."
I have my doubts that the video author really kept the mice as friendly pets... he may have said that to comply with YouTubes policy against harming animals..... you know.... because of "the children".
At one time I had a perfect disposal method for endless numbers of mice... I kept a Kestrel... a small falcon.... and they eat mice in one sitting.
Using fire arms to hunt mice seems like a mismatch unless you have very tiny bullets. Even shooting a rat seems somewhat oversized with guns, which were invented to hunt larger animals.

Actually I rarely shoot my firearms. My air rifles are so much more fun, more accurate, quieter, and no cleaning after shooting, just wipe down the exterior with an oily rag. I am setting up one of my air rifles for this, and mainly for rats, out under my bird feeders, but if any mice come to the party they will meet the same fate. There is a whole new world out there for you to explore! Did you know that Lewis and Clark took a Girandoni air rifle on their famous expedition? It was a .40 caliber high power semi-automatic rifle capable of firing 22 rounds before reloading, as fast as the shooter could pull the trigger, capable of killing an enemy soldier at 150 yards or more. It could fire almost 200 rounds before the shooter needed to swap in a new air canister. It was invented about 11 years before the Bill of Rights was ratified. So much for the claptrap spouted by anti-gunners who said the founders knew of only single shot muskets when they ratified the 2nd amendment. The Girandoni was recently enshrined in the Museum of the U.S. Army War College as the most significant weapon in the history of the United States, for if Lewis and Clark had not taken it on their expedition, the U.S.A. would not exist as we know it today. Every Indian tribe they met they demonstrated the Girandoni, and the Indians were so in awe of its power, smokelessness, and relative silence that they dared not attack them, and throughout the entire expedition they didn't have to kill a single Indian. What I like about today's high power precision air guns is that they offer just the right power level for what I use them for. A firearm would be overkill for my purposes and much more expensive to shoot. Educational MomentHaving always heard of an "air gun" I came to realize I don't know what they are, so I Wikipedia-ed it. "...they didn't have to kill a single indian."? That must have put a severe damper on their fun.
And all this is related to radio, exactly how?

Rodents in the ATU
Artisan Radio wants to know: "...this is related to radio, exactly how?"
Many engineers find rodent damage in their equipment racks, transmitters and ATUs.

Finding the Moderate
Moderation of a forum site such as ours is not a science, and no two moderators have the same limits.
In the amalgam I see all possible subjects as relatable to the field of radio because of radio's awesome power to deal with all realities and fictions in the world.
I have never understood the chastity belt cloistering of "radio" as if it was confined to a child's playroom.
That's as far as we need go at this time because I am tempering my moderation.

The best kind of moderation is self moderation.
I could have responded in kind to several of the posts in this thread, muttering all sorts of rejoinders to pro-gun claptrap and those in power that enable it...but I didn't.
The problem with politics and political discussion is that it's difficult to control, once started. Everyone has an opinion. And, as we've seen from this thread, those opinions can spring forth from the most sublime of topics.
In short, I don't think guns, or romanticized history from a particular viewpoint, or a whole lot of other topics touched on in this thread have much to do with radio, even stretching the definition.
I assume that most are here because of their interest in radio. Perhaps we should keep discussions firmly attached to radio and radio interests. Otherwise, we risk losing members who already get enough of the other stuff elsewhere.

Rodents in the ATUArtisan Radio wants to know: "... this is related to radio, exactly how?" Many engineers find rodent damage in their equipment racks, transmitters and ATUs. Also, another connection to radio. 20 or so years ago I started a group called R*A*T*B*U*S*T*E*R*S. It was a group of us who offered to safely and quietly eliminate rats in an ecologically friendly way. With no PR effort, soon we had several chapters all over the country. RATBUSTERS from the Wayback machine Before I knew it I was getting requests for radio interviews from all over the country, mostly talk radio shows but also ABC and NPR. Thus the connection to radio. Obviously radio organizations much larger than us considered it a very radio worthy topic!
