Human Relations
Life has taught me that there are two methods of human interaction that both fail...
Tolerance and intolerance.
As far as we can tell tolerance was invented by the church to teach people to "put up with the religious" and this worked somewhat to defend believers from those who didn't like superstitious folks, especially when those faithful worshipers were going around behind the backs of the tolerant whispering "They'll all go to hell one day!"
The ones who taught tolerance weren't at all tolerant, but they concealed their true feelings and so hypocrisy was born.
Meanwhile, the intolerant, who honestly vented their true and open feelings face to face were condemned for not liking whatever it was they were intolerant of, and rather than being valued for their open frankness, were considered rude, unfriendly, and shunned at public gatherings.
That's why today I am neither tolerant nor intolerant and neither believe nor disbelieve in anything.
It's not working either, but maybe there is nothing that works. I could believe that.
(Mention at the end: This is a script for a radio program I haven't done.)
