January 15th has been declared Part 15 Day in all 50 states.
The most desolate month of the year finally offers a reason to go on with this greatest of all holidays.
As of this time it is unclear exactly who decided on Part 15 Day, but nobody disagrees with it and celebrations have already begun in some locations.
Be sure to notify your place of employment that as an FCC authorized Part 15 radio operator you are eligible to skip work on January 15th. If there's any doubt have them contact me, Carl Blare, care of the ALPB.
Obviously the 15th of the month was chosen because of that number "15" and one wonders why it wasn't started in 2015... perhaps a revisionist historian can make the holiday retroactive.
The following night, January 16th, is a regular ALPB meeting night (this year), and many members will probably still be in the midst of celebration.
At last family members who have considered daddy to be childish for lavishing so much attention on a transmitter that covers only a few square feet will have to admit that he has his own holiday and they don't.

Unremembered Returns
Having put the word out about the new January 15th "Part 15 Day" holiday, I forgot about it and the day came and went without event.
No one I've heard of seems to have spread the word nor celebrated in any way, so the holiday got off to a limp start.
There's always next year, and if anyone is still doing part 15 broadcasting, maybe we'll remember to do something festive, like serve small pizzas or hand out miniature beer bottles.
I'm on the air right now, sending programming to myself to make radio worthwhile.
You can too, join the ALPB.

We all celebrate license free, low power broadcasting everyday, no fanfare required. Broadcasting is deep in the soul and we are all addicted.
I made popcorn and updated the WX forecasts on WCFI!
