Spotting a newspaper story about a string of retired Amtrak passenger cars for sale at $3,000 each, my girl friend and I toured the train cars in the downtown rail yard with thoughts of putting a radio studio in train cars.
People who live on restored passenger cars have their own magazine called "Private Varnish", and we read that restoring the train cars to rail industry standards costs more than $250,000 per car, so we postponed the idea.
