The glow of memories
I love tubes and grew up with them, and transistors, FETs and ICs all at the same time. Old tube equipment was so easy to get and strip down for parts.
I still have tubes, sockets and parts that go with them like power transformers, but now I'm all set up for solid state on the bench and that's all I've been building with for years.

Tubes and Magic
All electronics is magical, but tubes actually look like magic is happening inside the glass.
My solid state transmitters work perfectly to get excellent signals on the air, but the equipment looks dull with no magical appearance.
Also, having worked around giant 100 kiloWatt transmitter cabinets, when the blowers powered up to cool down the huge tubes the sound was so awesome you couldn't hear a radio... it was necessary to go into a soundproof room to hear the audio.
So our little transmitters need at least one tube and a loud blower so they could look and sound like they are doing magic.
