Respect can be an interesting conundrum.
Respect for the rule of law, say, is a good thing. Without that respect, you have chaos. The ALPB has an expectation that its members will follow the laws of their particular country for low power broadcasting.
Similarly, respect for an office or position is also a good thing. However, respect for the individuals that occupy that office has to be earned, and should not be automatically expected otherwise.
That being said, this Forum is no place to discuss respect surrounding politics and politicians. Not only is it potentially contentious, but it's also in short supply, regardless of your political views.
Post regarding radio and broadcasting. Politics belongs in your programming, if you are so inclined.

I saw it before the redaction Carl, so I know. It's probably in the interest of the health of forum members, to keep member blood pressure down.

No Secrets Among Members
Druid admits: "I'm not sure what this thread is about."
It all began when I said something the Admin deemed "political".
Rather than plead the case I submitted to the decision and withdrew my remark.
We have bigger problems to fry.
We are running short on leaders and may end up without an ALPB.
We can face rising oceans, runaway climate and looming over-population, but life without an ALPB might be the tipping point.
Thoughts and prayers.

In Service To Your Hobby? The hardest thing I've been asked to do in service to my hobby is REDACTED The hardest thing I have had to do is fire someone. Even when 100% justified it is always difficult. You re affecting someone's life in a very negative way.

Firing People
John Henry recalls: "The hardest thing I have had to do is fire someone. Even when 100% justified it is always difficult. You re affecting someone's life in a very negative way."
That's probably why many top bosses have other people handle the firing or, like one company that fired me, bring in a consultant who "recommends firing".
I only recall one time when I told two guys they were done for, and to this day I think I might not do it again if it could be re-lived.
We would have that problem at ALPB if we ever banned someone. But we do have in place a mechanism for handling that fairly, with an opportunity for redress.

I guess it depends on why that someone is being fired.
Sometimes firing someone is doing them a favor.
I've seen people singularly unqualified for a job continue to work at it, being miserable, and not doing it properly. No one was happy.
Or the attitude is horrible, they're lazy and think that they can get away with anything.
Firing can be a wake-up call in any number of ways. It is tough, yes, but if it gets the someone on the right track, then it can be worth the pain on both sides.
