I just read about this a few minutes ago on Facebook and had read other stories in the past telling of Europe's move to digital. Norway plans to have this system fully operational by 2017 but it will be in the VHF Band 3 spectrum.ieee.org/telecom/wireless/norway-pioneers-the-digital-radio-future-abandoning-fmIt will be interesting to see how this plays out, of course their plan makes much more sense than the current Digital system America is using. On the VHF band they will only have each other to splatter, but I think the DAB system is a much cleaner way of doing digital. It really is a shame that DRM doesn't get more recognition, it really is a great digital carrier. Shortwave DRM sounds incredible.

Digital Daydreaming
I was hearing just the other day... I think I was listening to Glen Hauser's World of Radio... and he mentioned several more shortwave stations pulling the plug and leaving the air.
The entire shortwave band is becoming a vacant lot.
It's time to re-settle... re-occupy... re-take the shortwave band and do something new.
DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) would be... in agreement with Blue Bucket... the way to go.
Maybe a choice or a mixture of analog, DRM, SSB...
Otherwise I say, as long as I have the floor... keep AM analog and expand the FM dial to match Russia (64 - 108 MHz).
Arrest the FCC for illegally re-selling public property.
Allow the Part 15 people to run it right.
