Fake Doctor Advice
My fictitious doctor, Doctor Proctor Cavalier, says "Bourban? I don't see why not."
And since you also have your radio hobby, you'll be in good shape!

After my serious health issues last year my wife told me the docs said no alcohol. When I went to the GI specialist for a follow up so I asked him about Bourbon and he said: "Sounds rather civilized to me!"

On Drinking Advice
I had a tremendous personal physician until he died pre-maturely from a heart incident, and when I told him I was having trouble sleeping in the early 1970s he advised drinking some wine.
Interestingly, when I drank wine I didn't mind being awake all night.

Well Ya Why Not
Public Health Notice: This Post is a Sociological Experiment
So I linked a story that claims beer and wine are good for people over 90 and hobbies prolong longevity.
Then MRAM posts: "Now that's good Technical advice for the Radio Studio operator, huh..."
Does that sound like "what does that have to do with radio?" It does to me and that sort of comment bugs me and I'll explain why.
First of all, in this immediate case, we have seniors running low power radio stations because it's a smart retirement hobby! The low power community doesn't consist mainly of school kids, and what few young people have ever run low power stations those are the smart ones who can speak on an adult level and don't need baby talk.
Senior station operators are not high school seniors. The word "senior" is one of those over-used words that causes confusion in speaking the English language.
I'm going to represent the adult wing of the hobby and talk like a grownup.
If someone rats me out by pointing the old "what does that have to do with radio" finger I will stick one of those Chinese puzzle things connecting two of you together by the fingers for life like Siamese cartoon mice and that's not a threat it's a public service.
Seniors can drink while broadcasting whereas someone said that licensed station drinking is banned by FCC rule, but have you ever seen that rule? It might only be a misunderstanding... I think that drinking on camera over a television station is prohibited, which is a different thing.
I knew a guy at an FM station that drank six-packs during every show and if he weren't dead I'd have him come here to talk about it.
And finally, my link also reports that hobbies are healthy for the elderly! Doesn't that make it about radio? If we insult members for failing to be childish that will drive people away from our club.
By the Way
This post is a sociological experiment to test whether we can speak like one adult to other adults without being muzzled by conservative "standards".

The study says that if you make it into your 90s then a drink or two of wine or beer a day decreases your likelyhood of dying a "premature" death. Now tell me this....How can dying in your 90s be a premature death?!!

Nothing Comes to Mind
Mark writes: "How can dying in your 90s be a premature death?!!"
I can't think of an answer to that!
