I Wasn't Told This Was a Thing
All of a sudden one day, starting with Harvey Weinstein, all the males in our fragile species appear in public with unshaven faces. Was there some kind of a signal to be slovenly un-groomed?
Is it a backlash against the #METOO movement to eliminate men?
Are men co-operating in their own elimination?
Women are not pleased by the stickly prickly bearded face against their tender cheeks.
Explain it to me, somebody, anybody!
What the F is happening?
Joining the ALPB has enormous dividends in terms of networking among members to solve technical problems. You should too.
That aside, should we shave, and if so, why not?

I don't know about the dirt, but men shaving their faces is a plot by women to get back at men for the custom of leg shaving.
[Edited to add another song by the Dellwoods, somewhat related:

Carl says: "What the F is happening?" The world's gone nuts depending on how you see it. Me, I shave every few days. No reason I have to do it every day. It's a nuisance. I'm retired, don't have to look a certain way and I don't have much to do with women anyway.

Hidden Truth
Mark says: "Me, I shave every few days"
That's true of me also. I look much of the time like a guy lost in the woods for decades.
On DavidC's comment, I never thought that women might be disturbed over the custom of keeping their legs shaved. I still need to go back and see the Youtube videos linked above.
There was the time a school administrator I knew introduced me to 2 women visiting the states from Holland. They were very pretty but their unshaven legs made them seem like half-man half-woman and I went into shock. Our conditioning can mess with the mind.
My opening complaint has to do with men who are in business, seen in videos and photographs, representing their professions. All their facial hair looks (to me) careless, messy, scrubby, un-befitting, and not a suitable company image.
But I am an equal opportunity complainer... the women seen on television as news anchors and show hosts dress like call girls on the job. If men grope them it looks to me like they were "on display" and inviting of a bit of "sampling".
Perhaps the ALPB can offer "corporate re-training" to help me get over my attitudes.

With the recent Star Wars movie being shown, I saw a documentary short about the making of the original movie in the mid-1970s, behind the scenes. It seemed like every younger guy working on the production was bearded, a surprise to see.
It must be a trendy thing, people are such followers!

The "I haven't shaved in days look" has been popular with actors for several years. I've wondered if they shave daily with special electric shavers to keep themselves looking consistently scruffy.

It's a good thing you are not in politics or that comment would get you nailed in today's climate! ;-)

Actually it made me happy too as it didn't come in as well as I hoped and I hated the feel of it. The mustache stays though. We all like that and my daughters have never seen me without it.

Beards and Mustaches
Jim Henry distinguished by mustache: "The mustache stays though. We all like that and my daughters have never seen me without it."
Reminds me of the time I began seeing a new woman in the days before my wife arrived... this new woman somehow let me know she liked mustaches so I grew one and all my other friends hated it and I never liked it but I am very pliable when it comes to love, such as the one time I actually danced.
The very day I stopped seeing the new woman the mustache came off. But I'd do it again.
