Well, I went to upgrade the firmware in my SSD, and ran into problems. For maximum performance, all SSD SATA drive controllers should be set to AHCI mode (as opposed to the backwards compatible IDE mode). Kingston drives need to be in AHCI mode to upgrade firmware.
