Flash Player and Radio TransmissionFor many streaming radio stations a Flash Player, also known as Shockwave Flash, is the terminus by which listeners connect to servers. Adobe Flash, also a video transmission platform, has been slated for expiration and is no longer being updated. Yet we've observed that enumerable connecting points for videos and audio require "Allow Flash Player" before reception is achieved. Flash continues to be a ubiquitous part of the scene all over the internet. This morning I was reminded that the World Time Clocks on the KDX Schedule page also require Flash. There doesn't seem to be a flurry of activity to replace Flash Players, but it is our understanding that it is now time to switch to some other medium for connecting with listeners and viewers. What choices exist for future streaming connections? The ALPB seeks to provide answers. Flash End of Life Article

The way I understand HTML 5 is supposed to replace Flash. Apple refused to allow Flash in their iPads and iPhones. Apple claimed a long time ago that HTML 5 was to be the new medium for content delivery.
Subsequently Google is now starting to disallow Flash Player as one of the versions of Chrome would not allow you to stream Shoutcast 1.98 streams and Flash player had some limitations to it. Many folks simply switched to a different browser to allow the continued use of Flash when it was required.
Many newer streaming Radio sites are now starting to use HTML 5 instead of Flash. It is also interesting how a browser called Puffin for Android will allow Flash Player so you can stream content with your mobile device.
