It's the World We Have
Anytime now it might be our turn to be virtually wiped out by weather violence.
It is happening right now on the gulf coast of Texas and spreading into Louisiana.
Should your radio station adhere to the blasphemous lie of the right wing and deny "climate change"?
Or might your station boldly speak truth to power by speaking honestly.
Human activity on earth is triggering climate disaster. Should we work to reverse the damage?
Hand raised in favor of saving the earth.

A few years ago the Department of Defense stated that the greatest threat to the security of the United States is climate change.

It has been so boldly true for quite some time and yes I do think our Hobby Stations should speak the truth about what is causing climate change. It has always been in the interest of financial big wigs to deny the in your face truth about this situation.
And to make things more of an issue with the racial tension a black woman posted on Youtube and this video went viral that the rescue workers are deliberately passing the blacks by and even making racial slurs as this happens. What does this have to do with Hobby Radio Broadcasting? Well we should have speaches to stop this crap.
I'm sure in Texas if a person had a high powered transmitter in a rural area that has been devastated by the storm and there is poor Radio reception there they could alert the people where they can truly find shelter. I've always been a fan of how Hobby Radio can indeed help in emergencies such as this.

There is a hobby radio that helps out in these situations. It's called Amateur Radio or Ham Radio. It's supposed to be the major reason that it continues to exist (along with technical experimentation). Focusing on potential emergency assistance rather than musical genres might be an avenue to go with an expanded hobby broadcasting service.

I'd love to have say the Fire Department beside our location be able to announce when things get severe here in Deltaville. Also with my Viper Radar app running during thunder storms I will tell the folks what actual roads are experiencing the most severe part of the storm. Where the most lightning strikes are. And I'll interrupt music during these times so people can hear the broadcast.
Here at my location there are a lot of elderly and handicapped people who can't even afford cable TV and here in Deltaville good luck getting a signal that will stay in longer than 20-30 seconds with an outside antenna. Digital TV is in no way helpful in emergency situations here. In our earlier petitions which were on the Elite section of our site and if I can dig up my back ups of those files this was one thing that Station8 was helping me with as a major reason we wanted the higher power in the first place.
What I'd like to see is Amateur Radio operators helping us with such petitions and also help us with sky warn broadcasts. I'd also like to save up for a good scaner to monitor sky warn and relay the severe weather warnings to my listeners. The Legacy has already announced the storms way before anyone in Deltaville would have even heard about them on 99.1 FM Gloucester, 103.9 FM Whitestone or even the Kilmarnock station. Its sad how because we are out there away from big wig advertising that they really don't serve Deltaville, VA. This is a major reason for Hobby Broadcasting and one Major reason 87.7 FM should be considered as The National Microbroadcasting Frequency.
Now that AM is dying and talks have been posted about an expanded FM service before allowing the translators to spew out the same programming on AM as FM we really need to fight for 87.7 and 87.9 Mhz at least those two frequencies. What would be better though it would be a far push would be 87.1-87.9 Mhz and the rest of the band 76.1-86.9 Mhz do what you will for commercial and translators.

Before I forget I've been searching for anything on how Pirate Radio has saved lives during Hurricane Harvey. If I find it I'll be shouting it from the mountain tops on why Hobby Broadcasting should be a respected Radio Service especially in rural areas whereas the big wigs won't cover because there is not enough advertising revenue to worry about a few old folks and disabled folks who don't line their pocket books.
