All day an error message is all remaining of Part 15 (dot) US. I do hope the repair guy gets it back before I forget the 20 ideas I wanted to post.
We have reminded people in the past that THEALPB(dot)COM (this website) serves as a back-up whenever we get locked out of the other place, but I don't think anyone remembers.
One thing I want to say is that radio broadcasting under the Part 15 Rules is not unlicensed as everyone seems to think. In my opinion the description given in Part 15 as to how to legally broadcast is what is known as an implied license. No paperwork required.
19 more ideas yet to go, I may be back a few times.

And, when you consider CB radios which once required a license, they are license free also or as you have said "an implied license" is in effect.
I wonder if Part 95 is still used to regulate that service. Now the CB comes with a simple "how to use" guide.

Part15.us down the other day. This evening The ALPB site is offline supposedly a "509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded".
If that's true I'm pleased so many are accessing the site. On the other hand it could be an attack on the site to purposely take it down.
Anyone else have issues accessing The ALPB site? Let me know...

The good news is The ALPB site is online again!
Jon Paul of Part15.us which hosts the site advised The ALPB traffic has increased. As such the limit was reached and that's why the site was offline.
Jon Paul has substantially increased the traffic limit so that should not be a problem for quite some time. Also he will correct the notification service to give advance warning before the limit is exceeded.
Thanks Jon Paul for supporting The ALPB...

Part 95 Is a Wild Section of the Rules
For one thing CB radio regulations are contained within Part 95 of the FCC rules, along with a few other goodies, under the masthead of GMRS : General Mobile Radio Services.
For example R/C (Radio Control) in the 72 MHz region is included in Part 95, as are a range of other services in various frequency bands.
It makes good reading for idle pastime.
