If you don't know what Classic Shell is? Well its one of the best ways to make your Windows 8-10 machine look and act like either Windows 7 or if you really want to you can even make it look just like Windows XP. During my last Windows update I was greeted with that messy old Windows 10 look and there went all my easy to find things like My Computer (Now called This PC), The programs section was mixed with Windows apps and worse there was no easy way to search for programs in the start menu like the older versions of Windows. Having this happen before I went to classicshell.net and Downloaded the installer so I can get back to my work. And here is where things got rough till I found the solution via Google. The program would NOT install because I had a previous version of Classic Shell and the Windows 10 update nicely (sick) deleted part of the program so it could not be uninstalled. Long story short you have to Download the Classic Shell utility to remove it and then you can install it once again to the latest version. You may have to disable your antivirus software as it may think that Classic Shell is a virus after all we're changing what m$ has done so we can go back to what we love best. After that it was back to running my station as usual. I hope this helps those who had issues with Windows 10. I'd suggest to put the Classic Shell utility and the latest version of the install on your desktop so when Windows 10 updates your ready to re install Classic Shell again.

I can see that if you got a computer that came with Windows 10, but is having the Windows 10 base in there behind the scenes and using a shell on top better than just keeping your old XP or 7, or 8? It seems it would take more power to run the shell on top.
Why not just keep the OS you like, rather than upgrading, because once you get to 64-bits, aren't you pretty much as good as you can get as far as data handling?
My newest OS is Windows 7, but the one I use most is XP 64-bit and 32-bit also on an sudio computer and a laptop.
Legacy, did you see my post where Brazil's communications regulator wants to open up the band from 76 to 108 mhz for FM, so they can move all AM stations over to FM? This is something I believe you've been pushing for, so they have your idea!

Yes Boomer I saw it. I think the US will have to break down and do the same thing as the rest of the world is already doing it. Part 74 for experimental Radio at 40 mW may be something I want to look more into because there is no limit to the DB gain you can have at the antenna. So get a 6-9 DB gain antenna and your off to the races with about a 2 mile range (Just what I need for my town).
My computer came with Windows 8.1 and I upgraded it for FREE to Windows 10. Since my Stepson took advantage of me and didn't pay bills and lied I lost everything but the clothes on my back in late 2015. 2 yrs later I was able to get a Rent To Own laptop from Aaron's which next month will be my last payment.
This is why I simply use Classic Shell and forget it.

I have had no issues with Classic shell. Hower it seems that W10 update keeps installing Skype which has no business being on my headless server that runs Zara. I haven't used Windows 8 or 10 on my own computers to really know what they're like. Maybe it would lighten the load if it reduces some of the graphics power needed for the interface.
I like the desktop, windows and menus to be plain and useful above being colorful and modern. Maybe the flair of an operating system is just to get your attention in the store.
I get a new PC or install the latest Windows, enjoying the experience and feeling up to date, everything's great, I love this, but then the honeymoon is over and I just want something that works well, with the fewest annoyances, and lowest waste of time possible.
I get spoiled by the way phones can open apps really fast, and how few error boxes there are on a phone. Windows on the desktop should be as fast, and why have an alert about Cool Edit, an older program, not passing testing every time you open it on Win 7? Totally a waste, until I changed the slider on User Account Control to minimum.
Every box should have a 'Don't show this again' option. With Cool Edit it doesn't make sense that it's an unknown program, when it was accepted for a decade and a half previously. It's like not getting in the club one day, 'but Windows knows me, I always come here!'
Major Linux versions aren't much better, there it's password boxes to do anything with the system, and you'd better remember your password. I'll accept that more at that command line after sudo, more of a tradition with Linux. Puppy Linux doesn't seem to deal with passwords, I think you're always treated as Superuser there.

You CAN run Android on your PC either with a Chrome extension or Android which is FREE or Blue Stacks.
I like running some of those FREE apps on my PC.

FREE is good, but when it's from a big company, you'll probably pay, in some way.

Life's Lessons
Experience has taught Boomer: "FREE is good, but when it's from a big company, you'll probably pay, in some way."
The only exception to that is the ALPB, which is very very big but you never have to pay.

If that's a Jeopardy question, the answer is "Psychology." I like the Church Of The Subgenius, truths for the age of NOW. The disembodied Dobbshead had even been traced to early uses in advertising around the 1950s, though I don't know if anyone has found its true origin, though many would think it's 'inspired'. You can find the Subgenius Church on line and listen to their podcasts, I've run them on my station before. I like its weirdness and hope someone runs across it when tuning around the local dial, because no one plays that kind of stuff on AM. www.subgenius.com/The first I'd heard of the Church was in DXer radio listening publications, because it started its radio ministry as a pirate broadcaster, decades ago when you could be creatively outside of the mainstream, and find an audience via a free radio station. Radio was more undistracted in those times, and it was a bigger technical feat to be able to get on the air, so your station could make a splash if you had power and interesting content. As such, the Church Of Bob made national headlines in the radio hobby press at the time, and books on pirate radio later. Bob and his church came at the right time I think. Pirate radio listening just doesn't seem to be so broadly interesting and clever. Now it seems to be more about the tech than programming, or microcasting to an audience that's not served well on FM. I ran malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy, Total Defense, and junk wear remover. None of these found anything wrong with Classic Shell. The only thing that found anything wrong with Classic Shell and it had to be reinstalled was the Windows 10 update.
This actually doesn't surprise me a bit because Microsoft really does not like anyone modifying windows in any way shape or form. I remember this when Windows Vista came out in a similar program was designed to make Vista look exactly like Windows XP. Microsoft did a patch that prevented that program from updating the way that the taskbar looked as well as the start button. However the program hackers were able to redo the program after the Vista update and once again people were making Windows Vista look like Windows XP.
Even the computer techs at Aaron's where I rent my computer say that that program is not a problem in fact they actually do use it for many of their customers who don't like Windows 10 and the way it looks.
Now here's something that you might want to put in your hat. After the Windows 10 update my wife's computer begin having issues with typing. I rebooted the computer and I got 7 long beeps. The technician looked at the computer and could tell that the problem occurred shortly after a Windows 10 update. Kind of shows you a little bit about what he thinks about Windows 10.
I told him that I would put Windows 7 in there if I actually could. I have never had problems with Windows 7 running on any of my computer's in the past and it usually ran like a top. All my radio programs ran super good and it's not as much of a resource hog as Windows 10 is.
The problem when I get my computer back from the tech as they actually restored it to factory setting is that my wife's computer came with Windows 8.1. The time for the free upgrade is over so I'm sure that it will only be Windows 8.1 and won't update to Windows 10.
I did hear though that once Windows 10 has ever been installed on a computer that someone could just install it and there is no key code to enter. So if I got a hold of the image file or something like that I could download it if I so chose to do.
Since my wife only plays Facebook games I might just actually leave it at Windows 8.1 and just make sure I have the latest drivers in there and all should be fun and good for her. I was actually able to run my radio software in Windows 8.1 long ago. Nextkast doesn't have any issues with 8.1. Even older Sam broadcaster programs will run fine and 8.1 but started having trouble after Windows 10 was invented.
The moral of this long rant is I don't think you'll have any issues if you so choose to install the program called Classic Shell there is no adware or spyware or any pop-ups that come from it. And it runs like a top.

Listen2myradio must have killed your webpage to the stream. I did get a Email that they were going to start deleting unused accounts. I have one too I use from time to time just as a back up in case my regular stream went down.
If that FREE service goes down there is also caster.fm and myradiostream.com however Caster.fm uses Icecast 2 (Not shoutcast like it says. And Myradiostream uses Shoutcast V1.98 through a Firewall to force folks to listen through their browser. Caster.fm will work on Smartphones where as the FREE service of Myradiostream does not.
Hope this helps.
