As a Reporter for ALPB News I Don't Link Everything I See
Before I link to a story for ALPB News I think for awhile about its relation to radio.
Self driving cars, for example, haven't yet been explored for their potential service to low power radio.
Neither have sex robots been a subject of interest because radio has little connection with personal affairs except perhaps for the occasional song lyric.
But thinking on a 96-degree day brought forth the idea of re-purposing a sex robot to provide an entirely different service... listening!
If there's a common disappointment in low power radio it's a shortage of listeners, but with obedient robots you could have them tuned into your radios wherever you could find a corner for them to sit.
Imagine having a dozen artificial listeners that never needed sleep always tuned in and responding with smiles, e-mails and phone calls.
The ALPB Think Tank... always thinking so you don't have to.

I like listening robots, and I even think about the Dog next door hearing my radio station, or how carrier-current is going through all kinds of wiring in the area, and how sly that is, because people might hear the station or not, but no one would know how RF is flowing over the wires, like veins carrying blood in a living being.
It makes me wonder why we need outside listeners for our stations, is it like a habit, because we're emulating bigger stations, who because of their coverage are bound to be heard by someone, or is it a need to reach out and communicate?
For myself it's both, and doing free form underground shows, especially late at night in the contemplative hours has always held an appeal that anyone tuned in then could be another radio or music nut job.
I imagine an army of robots sitting in a room listening on headsets to my station, and it might not be so far fetched in causing good feelings in the operators. Japan has companion robot pets, cats and pooches that interact with their owners and talk to them, and they even have them for care home visits with the elders, and the video showed them being well received.
Seeing the video made me think of the robot Scottie Dog in Woody Allen's movie Sleeper, who kept on saying, "My name is Rags, woof woof woof" and bouncing around the room.
Listener robots would hear the conclusion of the show and when you took your headphones off, tell you how much they liked the broadcast automatically. As living beings with a range of emotions, I don't think we're beyond responding to that, even if the praise is just from a robot.

Boomer Knows What It's All About
After reading and liking Boomer's comments about listener robots I saw today's weather forecast calling for a high of 100-degrees. My internal thermostat suddenly proclaimed that today would be my last chance to be creative because people my age can't handle heat. So I became negatively creative and was flooded with doubts about the robots.
Since the listeners would be repurposed sex robots they'd still have desires which I may not have disabled sufficiently. Some of them would begin banging each other. Others might steal the self-driving car and leave town. And since my originally order called for "highly educated" there would be dissatisfied listeners who believe they can do a better job. There would be jealousy as robots resented each other and a "Fatal Attraction" model who would try to deconstruct her perceived rivals. The maid robot would "clean the floor" by removing the floor boards. They would file a class action lawsuit to get me out of the way.
The listener robots would take over the ALPB and impose a rule that "humans talk last".
