Has anyone considered operating AM Part 15 from a car or truck? A properly installed CB whip using the car body as a ground-plane could work wonders I am guessing. One could visit vintage car shows, set up shop by paying 50's - 60's music. Just an idea.

There's an article somewhere about a guy who ran a station from his parked car, I don't think it was on location, just in his yard or close by, and he had CDs in his car and used it as the studio and it was a locally recognized station.
I found this one day just searching on Part-15 stations.

ProAm used to make a 160 meter mobile antenna (I have one). There may still be some made for all I know. Extend the whip a bit (the toal length was around 8 feet, so there was 2 feet to play with) and you probably could get it to resonate around 1700Khz or so. So you could even use a Talking House with the3 50 ohm connector.

Whipping in the Wind
When a whip antenna moves around in the wind what does that do at the listener end... does it cause signal strength on the S-meter to bounce up and down?

I understand the restriction on FM in the USA but it would be a lot easier to do this with FM than AM as it's simpler. Yeah, that's a good idea. Kind of hard with the Decade because this transmitter needs a A/C not a D/C supply unless I got one of those inverters as they are called to get a 120 volts 60 HZ in the car, and then use the adaptor. May think of doing this. Great idea about the vintage car shows.
The Decade is best because it has the "license" to broadcast. Oh, just remembered the compressor also needs a A/C supply but could not use that by keeping the source volume lower. These A/C to A/C adaptors are hard to get and I have stocked up with several as extras!
Disclaimer....I am not in the USA and under BETS-1 in Canada which allows you to "broadcast" and allows a little more power on FM. I encourage everyone in the USA to operate within FCC guidelines.

I don't recall the exact details.. (Carl might), but several years ago there was some guy who broadcast from his pickup truck and he had some kind of contraption attached which spiked the ground(?) for ground... He went from place to place. There was a discussion and review about it on part15.us several years ago.. Sound familiar to anyone?.. Carl? Ring a bell?

You Rang?
YES End80 I remember that it was Bruce MICRO1700 who had the real low down on the man with a pickup truck somewhere (I think in Connecticut) and I believe it was the same story that included some kind of portable roll-open down on the ground mat or blanket or some contraption that you could safely walk on but it had ground radials built in.
Bruce MICRO1700 posts exclusively at part15_us so ask over there and when he sees it you'll get the scoop.
Meanwhile, as a news reporter, I'll also look for the story.
The continuing saga of part 15 and low power radio is brought to you by bowls. What would breakfast be or for that matter popcorn without the convenience of bowls. We all use them, we take them for granted, but this weekend show appreciation to the bowls we all use everyday.
