Today I received in the mail the quarterly newsletter from the township. I didn't ask for this nor did I know it was coming. I hope it will be a good thing not a bad thing. I think I will have the station back up in 24-48 hours. Attachments:

Tremendous!
That positive recognition in print by the township is very nice!
It gives recognition for all the effort you are placing in providing this radio service.
And in the time to come you have many opportunities for expansion.
Jim Henry is quickly becoming one of the great success stories for part 15 radio.

Maybe just maybe he will get donations and permission from other folks to set up repeater stations using some sort of WiFi device. Spread these repeaters just enough apart and when the signal fades it will quickly rise again as one travels down the road.
Let us know how the townspeople continue to react to your station and do set up a PayPal donation link on your website as it will go a long way for you.

That's great, it ought to get people interested in tuning in, since people would be looking for local things in a hometown newsletter!

Pioneer of the Old East
Jim Henry is a natural born builder who knows that starting at the ground means building up from there.
Boomer says: "The pressure of sudden fame."
Mr. Henry knows how to keep the townfolk waiting patiently by explaining to them that it's like building a national highway... you can only go as fast as they can mix the concrete. Puts the pressure on others without naming names.

PayPal is a great idea I never thought of. Another reminder to edit and put my website up again, it's a mess. Thank you! In good time. I still have some good WIFI equipment from when I dabbled into being a WISP. I could easily set up a point to point link of 10-12 miles if I can get line of sight. Congrats on the publicity. I've found that local media (even radio stations) are always interested in local material.
I don't recall if you're going to be looking to bring in any money to help defray the costs of your station, but if you are, you might want to consider the various business (!?) models that are possible. Here are a few: 1. Advertisements. Tim in Bovey has a great model for this, with local businesses getting free ads (I don't know if he limits them or not) and others pay a nominal fee 2. Sponsorship. I did this - I had various businesses and individuals sponsoring particular shows that I ran (on a monthly basis). I managed to bring in enough to just about break even on the station's costs (it shared a storefront with another business that I had at the time) 3. Donations, as Thelegacy suggests. I don't know how effective this is. I personally don't like this approach, as it seems too much like begging (and not very professional), but that could just be me.
If I was going to do it again, I'd go for advertisements and a modified Tim in Bovey model.

Well I do feel some pressure as now they also have me on their web site: honeybrooktwp.com/tune-in-to-hbr-radio-1610-am/I've got the 102" whip back but still not getting the range I feel that I should, only about 1/2 mile in any direction. Saturday I am going to start checking continuity of the antenna and ground system. I know my landscaper did cut one of the radials so I will replace that but wonder if there might be other damage.
