I hate to keep dumping on the tech news' parade, but I seriously doubt that anyone living today has to worry about this.
Consider the fact that well over 99% of all the hacks/trojans/viruses on computers are from simple causes, such as inside information about passwords, or people doing it to themselves through phishing, e-mail exe's, etc. The idea of a brain hack or virus is laughable, at least right now. It falls into the same category of myth as artificial intelligence.
I'm not saying that it will never happen. But we're nowhere near that vicinity in our understanding of how we think.
It reminds me of the statements by scientists, and dutifully reported by the tech media, that we're within a generation of understanding everything there is to understand about the universe. I think those were issued about a generation ago. I also think that they were issued by scientists who were looking for funding.
Now, if someone can explain Trump and his mindless followers, then I might be willing to change my mind.

I think Trump is doing one heck of a good job. Look at all the changes he's done in so little time. OK now for mind control subjects.
I was told by a friend who was in the military that certain radio frequencies can be used to stun someone and if enough power was emitted at that particular frequency could kill that person and it would be 100% non detectable when an autopsy was performed.
He didn’t tell me what the frequency was but did say it was below human hearing and that enough power pointed right at that person would indeed kill them immediately.
Now one has to wonder because in certain areas people have felt the sense of being paralyzed when they woke up and thought that an alien has taken control of their body somehow. Could it have been because of someone using low frequencies to determine what was under the earth or find a way through a tunnel or mine? Alaska was one of these cases whereas people felt these sensations as there was movies about aliens trying to kidnap people by doing such a trick.
Some scientists say they have an explanation for this phenomena and that is magnetic fields disrupting the brains operation. The Ghost Hunters did find that during high magnetic fields they felt a sense that someone was watching them (A Godlike sensation).
Another reason I bring this up was because of occasionally its been brought up that too much RF and being around it all the time is bad for the health. SARS has been brought up as well and this all goes together even though the ideas may seem strange as I write them.

TheLegacy Brush with Truth
TheLegacy stated: "I think Trump is doing one heck of a good job. Look at all the changes he's done in so little time."
That is either tongue-in-cheek sarcasm, which would be on target, or TheLegacy believes that "making changes" is a good thing no matter what those changes are, to which I would ask: "Name one good change Trump has made."
In comments about mind control TheLegacy has some truth by the tail...
It's been known for a long time that ELF brain-wave frequencies, operating from below 0 Hz to about 30 Hz, can be interfered with by external energies that disturb brain activity, coming in either electromagnetic or acoustic form.
Idling next to a large truck in heavy traffic can to some extent jam a brain's ability to make quick decisions, caused by the sub-sonic rumble issuing from the truck's engine.
Heavy exposure to electric transmission lines can impede the brain's ability to do ordinary math.
FM frequencies have been associated with a rise in depression, although the study has disappeared after twice being presented on CBS 60 Minutes. When I wrote CBS asking for a transcript of the program they wrote back and said "no such program was ever on 60 Minutes".
Consider the military "Sound Cannons" now used by police for protest control... they cause inability to function and vomiting.
In the early 1900s Tesla demonstrated a low-frequency generator that made people nauseous.
There is more known about causing disturbance to the brain than the public is aware of.
After saying all that, I think Artisan is right in believing that brain control science is no where near making specific thoughts change or disappear.

I stuck my head inside a TV degaussing coil once. When I turned it on I got dizzy and my eyes watered up. True story.

Same Experience Different Cause
Druid Hills is lucky to be able to recall his degaussing, which is a Sub-Genius slang for baptism: "I got dizzy and my eyes watered up."
Carl scarcely remembers: "When I have 3 beers and hear a sad song that same thing happens to me.
