Two Types of Balanced Audio Technology That Have Nothing to Do With Each Other
Balanced audio technology is a standard method of sending audio over a 3-wire circuit.
Balanced Audio Technology is a brand name of over-priced high-end audio equipment (balance(dot)com).
The two types of "Balanced Audio Technology" have nothing to do with each other.

As Usual
MrKnowItAll is correct.
The 3-wire "balanced circuit" features 2 audio wires which carry the +/- separately from the 3rd wire which is the shield/ground wire.
In the cheapened low-class un-balanced audio circuit we find that the audio (-) and shield/ground share a single wire, while the audio (+) occupies the center conductor.
There is even a 1-wire audio circuit, experimentally proven by Brooce DogradioStudio2, in which the (-) audio is sent through the earth/dirt by ground rods located at each end of the transmission line.
