Most of the LPB Manuals from ALPBIt was Jeff Station8 who researched, contacted, and obtained almost all LPB Manuals and Papers with permission to post here at the ALPB. Cancel your date. Tell your wife you'll take her to the movies some other time. Tell your kid little league isn't worth your time. Spend your evening sorting through this treasure. LPB Library Galore

I like that, and have most of those manuals already, thanks Station8 for taking the step and working with those guys.
Maybe with the changing of the tides in Carrier Current and an interest by home users on a hobby basis, LPB could make a comeback in some form, perhaps using current construction methods and circuit integration, with 'class D' RF amps for high efficiency, and serve this market, and grow it. You might never get thousands of schools and drive-in theaters like before, but there could be a market for a re-tooled lean company.

Its sad that these part15 transmitter manufacturers don't take Carrier Current seriously anymore as this is a great way to broadcast wen living in a complex because you don't have to worry about the signal being able to penetrate each building as you have created a way to get the signal inside the buildings themselves.
An easy tuning circuit for anyone to use possibly a transmitter ready to plug and play for carrier current would be possible.

Remembering Carrier Current
I was introduced to carrier current in the late 1950s when the chief engineer for KBIL, St. Louis U's carrier current station, named for the Basketball Billikens, gave me a tour of the studio and the transmitters.
The studio was no different than a licensed radio station with a tank sized audio console and two gray turntables the size of half-tall refrigerators.
The transmitters were spread over a several block area located in the basements of high-rise dormitory buildings and were heavy-duty LPB tube models.
The station occupied 590 kHz and could be heard on car radios on most parking lots around campus.
The end of the station came when my friend graduated and went to work for a 5 kW station and there was no one behind him to take over at the school.
The rise of FM in the 1960s probably spelled the doom of carrier current because colleges tended to look upon AM as "old technology" but LPB dug in and did a valiant job developing solid-state versions of their transmitters and even tried their hand at a part 15 model.
If carrier current were feasible on FM it would be much in demand now, but unfortunately the power lines are not friendly up above 30 mHz.
LPB moved into serving the high power transmitter market but encountered some kind of financial mishap that sunk their ship. The history in detail is a project no one seems to have gathered.
Today Radio Systems is the only company known to offer an AM carrier current 10-Watt transmitter and coupler but customers are few.
The Dood in West Virginia has successfully tried a Greek made 0-20 Watt transmitter with his vintage couplers and anyone with the $$$ has that option available.

Stand By
Part15 Engineer ready to hand over batch of info for the ALPB Library: "Haven't heard back from station8 or admin on my offer and have seen nothing show up on TheALPB page yet."
Admin works full time for his city and spends 7-days a week keeping WCFI-LPFM on schedule, so give him more time to catch up with adding your contribution to the website.
Station8 has not checked in lately... we don't know what he is doing.
