Hello everyone! I am the engineering director at my local college radio station, and after doing some very thorough cleaning, I found some old vintage carrier current equipment. I am not too familiar with how these work, what they are worth, or even if anyone would find a large use out of them. I have a few sets of these, presuming that they are actually used in a set. I know little to nothing about them, besides that they seem to work together. I threw some images in an im gur for you guys to look at and would greatly appreciate any feedback possible. imgur.com/a/qdf7W

Solid Gold
That's an LPB TX2-20 Carrier Current Transmitter, one of the best finds around for setting up a carrier current AM station.
I have one of those... it's adjustable from 2-Watts up to 20-Watts, and works in conjunction with the TCU_30 (Transmitter Coupling Unit capable of handling up to 30-Watts) Coupler, the interface needed to drive the RF signal into the AC power lines.
Such equipment generates very competitive auctions on E-bay.
Don't turn it on without a 50-Ohm load attached to the RF output or the output transistors might blow out. The TCU_30 provides the proper 50-Ohm load when connected to the output of the transmitter.
By the way, I believe we have the manuals for that equipment here on the ALPB website.

Thanks for the information Carl. Do you also know by chance how much the bidding's should start at? Also, do you know if the transmitter should be sold as a pair with the coupling unit?

You'll generally get more $ if you sell each piece separately.

LPB Conversion to Ca$$
DavidC has the right suggestion... list the items separately.
For example I happen to already have 3 coupler units, but I'd consider chasing down another transmitter. The same would be true of other shoppers. I know people who have their transmitters but still hunt for a coupler.
You're going to be so rich!
Because of the advanced age of the equipment wiser buyers might balk at too high a price...
Maybe someone else knows best how to set the starting price.

Top Notch
WBSU the listing looks perfect.
What a good opportunity for someone who needs a TCU-30.

Carl: Could you please take a few hi resolution pictures of the interior of that 'coupler'? And do you have a schematic of it?

Does your school have a radio program? Why not find out if you can set these up to add to your media presence? I'd like to see schools get back into radio broadcasting, but beyond that, if your school sells your media assets, such as your FM station or takes over your website if you have those, students may need this earlier technology to fall back on.

No and Here's Why
CENTINEL asks: "Better yet, Carl, may I swing by and take them myself?"
The equipment being discussed and shown is not mine, it is being shown by new member wbsu.
See the first post in this thread.

We do have a radio program, it is quite great! The problem happens when there is a ton of legacy equipment and no one knows how they work! A lot of googling!

How Is the Sale Going?
Were we helpful in getting you up to speed with your legacy equipment?

I wish I was there, I'd help show WBSU how to set up, I run a carrier current station and know the basics.
