Reaction to It
Mighty fine that the FCC found mainly in favor of the LPFM station in the above linked story.
What the story makes me want to know more about is why the Beasley Group would poke its nose into the business of a small ethnic station. Sounds perhaps like an ethno-racist attack. How many other stations has Beasley ever complained about? Other than lashing out at the smaller station as an act of hatred, what did Beasley hope to gain?
I for one will be keeping a close eye on the Beasley Radio group to make sure they do everything according to the full extent of the law.

Home Run
The last paragraph of the most recently linked story hits it home.

Home RunThe last paragraph of the most recently linked story hits it home. Yes you are correct in your observation. This flea-power station is just down the road from our flea-power operation. This same 50 KW blowtorch is on our 1st adjacent and now you might understand why I am hesitant to run great shows like the Stuph File because of his borderline "call to action" comments. They would waste no time trying to shut us down even though we are no threat. Commercial FM (NAB) has never been LPFM friendly. www.facebook.com/Saint-Leo-University-Radio-WLSL-927-FM-691755534210068/

It seems that once a station goes on, there's really nothing a station from doing what it wants with the programming. I remember an owner's fight to get 1660 AM on the air in I think Elizabeth, NJ, that there was no local station, and made a promise of local service, then they went on the air and promptly changed directions to Radio Disney, a national network.
What's the deal with all of the Radio World sites? I know about the long time industry newspaper RW, and that was RW online, but I get a few other sites called Radio World, are they connected with the old one or new businesses? This one with the LPFM story has a more modern interface than old RW online.

Provide a common resource for news, music, athletic events, entertainment, local features and information concerning Saint Leo University and the surrounding communities of Saint Leo, San Antonio and Dade City. Encourage the free exchange of information, resources, culture, and wisdom that represents the diversity of our students. Develop an educational track for students learning broadcast journalism, multimedia, business management, computer skills, administrative and other related skill-sets taught at Saint Leo University. And lastly, all programming is consistent with the core values of Saint Leo University

A great way to put a nail in the coffin of Beasley Radio group would be to file a discrimination suit against them for not providing any ethnic programming on any of their stations if this is the case. Plus if most of their stations are only top 40 and don't provide other genres like say classic country album Rock jazz blues you get the deal well file a discrimination suit against them.
How about the way they keep their files most stations are supposed to keep records of just about everything they do. Failure to do so when it becomes inspection time in the files are open to the public well that could get them in a heap of trouble as well. I say continue hammering them where it hurts then it will teach these bozos to keep their evil mouth shut.
There has got to be a way to teach these bigwig troublemakers a lesson and teach them where it hurts their money their pocket then they'll learn to leave things alone yet they might get more than they bargained for if they try to change anything. That's the only way you're going to stop all this crap from continuing to happen.

If you read the complaint closely, Beasley operates a Spanish station and they felt the Spanish LPFM was cutting unfairly into their market share.

I know full well about the Beasley Radio group. I'll tell you this: Don't mess with George or his son Bruce! They have more money than you. There are people who happily DO things for them! I won't expand on that. No. Stay FAR away...under their radar. You do NOT want that all-seeing EYE to cast upon you! ~Shudder~!
