Yes, Carl is somewhere near the horizon. I am in the inner-city of STL.
I built the AMT 3000.

Squeeze PlayCENTINEL reports: " Yes, Carl is somewhere near the horizon. I am in the inner-city of STL." That's a truth. Horizon living exactly. And your other neighbor pressed right up to the shoulder is KATZ. PHVERN's Next Door Neighbor

Superficial
Druid Hills comes awake late in the day: "Carl is in the direct path of God!"
God is the current traveling on the surface!

I read in a very popular underground Radio listening and transmitting forum whereas there was very good DX conditions one day. He received a station he thought was a Pirate station 100+ miles away with his outdoor AM receiving antenna. He sent an Email to the guy telling him that he too was a Pirate. He got a response from a Part15 AM operator with pics of his 3 meter antenna system to which he was surprised his part15 AM station could skywave.
My point was that given the right conditions (Though extremely rare) your station can DX for hundreds of miles away contrary to what most folks will say.
Another case scenario was yours truly using just a Talking House AM Transmitter on 1630 Khz. Berry was messing with the online receiver @ 1630Khz one night in Resten, VA. You could faintly hear my voice under all the static saying "Your Rocking With The Legacy!" followed by the songs I was playing. Either my puny Talking House TX on the wire was somehow doing skywave that night or someone else re transmitted my Internet signal over AM and @ 1630 Khz (Same frequency I was on at the time).
Funny thing is that normally my signal will have a hard time surpassing 600 Ft on the wire antenna. To this day I don't know what actually happened to make this occur.

I've heard that same story, in fact my Rangemaster was caught via skip several years back in its original home in Arizona on 3340khz. In my time of owning the transmitter I have received no such reports of shortwave skip from my location.
Edit: I should add, despite being obviously too short of a hop to be actual skip I have noticed the signal enhances slightly before sunset or shortly after sunrise before getting buried by actual skip. Though when the transmitter was first installed it was possible to detect carrier and audio 5 miles away at night underneath the dominant stations, of course that's before I realized I had it incorrectly setup to have 700+mW input power.

Not That Short
Druid Hills should check the actual mileage between here and there and he'd retract: "Our Resident Hobby Agent is just a short drive from your house."
The Agent is somewhat closer to CENTINEL whose Inner City house puts him near Illinois, but we're still half-a-state away from the Hannibal area where Samuel Clemens pretended to be Mark Twain, himself across the steel-frame bridge from the Resident Agent.
Somewhere in either Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn it's mentioned that grounding to a steel-frame bridge could bring a KENC type result.
If I were in the area I'd print your FCC Badge on a piece of cardboard and demand to see the Agent's transmitter. It would only be a joke, I wouldn't really be impersonating an agent, I would only be pretending to impersonate one.
The joke being that the Resident Hobby Agent is pretending to be an agent.

Across the street is my café. This, my friends, according to local suburbanites, is the hood. I'm guessing somebody checked me out on QRZ.

Old Home Hood
Oh man I was an inner city man for years and knew friends and did business all over from north st. louis to south st. louis and downtown. Most of it was in the streetcar days but I was on the block.
That is a great location for your new radio station!

Most of it was in the streetcar days but I was on the block. That is a great location for your new radio station! Time will tell. I thought about putting the transmitter in my cafe to taunt those annoying tourists with 'how bad this hood is' (it's not so bad). I opted for home, as a hobby effort, to kept City Hall at bay. Last thing I want is city hall saying I can't do it. I've fought downtown and won, but I want to pick my battles! I did inquire with people around home about listening interests and concluded I have to do this solely because it interests me. However, with time I think I'll have an audience.
